Interesting site you mentioned ( seeing the prices achieved at Baldwins auctions over the past couple of days. From my unscientific skim through, many items at or below the estimate, and a few above.

Hieronymous1 - yes, I asked for that one, didn't I?! It's just that I remember the post-Prospero update. I guess that was a fairly significant event, but not being a numismatist, I don't know how 4000 sovereigns compares...

btw, the preliminary results were out 3rd November last year weren't they, not October?

I repeat my earlier question - anyone have a feel for if/when NBL will provide an update on the current auctions? Or will they include a note in the finals on progress since year-end?

Todays auction was a mixed bag imo. Some nice prices realised, some lots not realised though+ some below estimate

Are we expecting an update after the last of this month's auctions? I don't know how NBL normally does this.

Currently another nice spike up today - presumably in anticipation of successful auctions, with a bit of lingering Simon Thompson effect?

Simon Thompson is not "some punter" but a staffer on the IC with a very good track record. I have met him at an IC Roadshow and was impressed with his intelligence and knowledge. Furthermore, the IC regularly publishes its winners and losers. So you can buy a copy and see for yourself.

Yes WS you are absolutely right. My fear and reason for not buying back in yet, is that there seems to be no news to drive the share price other than this tip which really says absolutely nothing new.
Isn't it amazing how some punters tip has this effect? When you consider just how useless most tipsters are proving to be.

I put the move entirely down to simon Thompson re tipping this ... Today the print version came out explaining today's rise

These have moved remarkably swiftly upwards. Auctions next week will have to be good to justify this move imo.

Simon Thompson has recommended this in his Investors Chronicle Bargain Shares column (online today, in print Friday). Very positive write-up, which explains the surge of buying this afternoon, as the article was published online at midday.

I see we had a trading update on 6th Sepotember last year. Hope this pending announcement plus auctions coming up later in the month give us a boost from the downtrend.
