I trade for a living but don't know how you guys do it with spreadsheet accounts and margin. I stick to valilla stock trading with any purchases covered by cash balances and that can be stressful enough. Anyways, best of luck folks.

Esma rules protect you from negative balance. You cannot loose more than you put in basically For the record I am long £200 per point which is now locked in . Was £25k in profit yesterday at close

asusasus it sounds like there's loads of things that can be done to address your current situation and there's many more ways to be successfull than money. Take stock, get advice and move on lessons learned. Everyone slips up now and again, just another challenge, it's what makes us human, your daughter will understand that far more.

The other thing is it could quite possibly be not as bad as some fear and come back with a large rise!

asusasus, it's money, nothing is worth taking your life for, particularly with family. You are not helpless, yes you might need some help. You've owned your mistake, that's the first stage and takes guts. Plenty of things in life far more important. Keep perspective.

I HOPE THAT EVERYONE FOLLOWED MY ADVICE TO SELL NMC INTO STRENGTH ON 3 FEBRUARY AT OVER £13.20 BECAUSE IF IT SURVIVES YOU WILL BE ABLE TO BUY THEM BACK FOR PENNIES? I ALSO PREDICTED A CORONAVIRUS BEAR MARKET AND MY FTSE PUTS HAVE MULTIPLIED, THEREFORE, TO EVERYONE WHO LAUGHED AT ME, HA, HA, HA BECAUSE HE WHO LAUGHS LAST LAUGHS LONGEST!

MY LUCKY DAY. AFTER RUNNING AT 850P LAST WEEK, I THOUGHT OF TAKING 2K SHARES IN THE CLOSE YESTERDAY FOR A QUICK 2-3% MORNING RISE FOR NEXT WEEK RESULT. THEN THOUGH WHY RISK MY NICE PROFIT ON ESL YESTERDAY IN FALLING MARKET.

In theory, if you're a retail client and are elected as such with your SB provider you can't go into a negative. The good old EU brought that in following when the SNB dropped the peg on the Swissie

A, this isn't as bad as it seems, it's bad to lose but it's only really a paper trail game, different of you owed some heavies the money, YOUR DAUGHTER NEEDS YOU, declare bankruptcy if you have to and keep your sanity and you life. You will look back on this and realise how much more important other things in life are to you.Best wishes.

No, there are new rules in the EU since 2016 that SB companies cannot allow retail accounts to be into debt. I'm guessing this was a retail account, are you or the SB broker based in the EU?

asusasus, life is much more important than a SB company debt, not sure if they can enforce gambling debts, best seek advice. You can buy time, agree a repayment plan, even strike a full and final settlement figure, plenty of options. Dont let them bully you about the debt, I would state what you posted above, so they have this on record. Stay cool but please I would suggest do not trade on credit again, It hardly ever works out. Hope it works out well for you
