Daneth58..I much prefer passive investing but of late ( just since the New Year) some day/ short term trading until Brexit direction becomes apparent and the last few days moved most into cash. I'm up 19% since the nadir in mid December, but then I suppose most of us are well up. Sure, the Market may carry on upward ( on the 100)to 8000 and I get left behind, a pullback is due but no obvious signs just now.

we are all trading here i think and its part of the cost of doing so. If you think its worth buying a stock the stamp duty is a penny or 2 on top. I HATE stamp duty and think its theft. I have already been taxed on the money i invest and if I make money will be taxed again. I used to think like you but now accept it and try to bid a penny less on stocks like NMC. It moves in big increments so if you get it right that is soon absorbed. I took some more NMC at 22.30 and the £170 or so I paid in stamp is a distant memory Good Luck with you trading but if you are day trading your chances of winning over the longer term are v slim. Good luck though

Could somebody please tell me if NMC is stamp duty exempt. Thanks. Given the recent fall the valuation is starting to look attractive for a growth stock.

JPMorgan cuts price target from £42-65 to £41-11p,reported in today’s Times.Seems a somewhat pointless exercise but reiterates upside. In the opening set of first quarter results last week, Jefferies reported a 36 per cent drop in investment banking revenue, which it called “sub-par”;.Limited sympathy here I suspect.Worst of the bunch.

When AQR started their short position back in mid Nov 2018,the shares were £35 but have fallen fairly consistently as the short has nudged higher. Not purely coincidental perhaps. https://shorttracker.co.uk/company/GB00B7FC0762/ Further increase in short interest on 29 March to over 2%

“NMC Health was the FTSE 100s sharpest faller as dealers highlighted rising bets against the United Arab Emirates hospital operator, which had 13.3% of its free float on loan. According to Citigroup, short sellers were likely to be focusing on NMC’s related party transactions as well as a loan taken out by Khalifa Butti Bin Omdurman,it’s vice chairman, which the broker said had been secured on the pledge of a 7% stake in the company when the shares were trading around a fifth higher than their current level “ FT market report 28 March 2019. Khalifa has near 15% of the equity, around 15m shares as of March 2018.Its possible that the bank might call Khalifa for margin given the fall in the shares used as collateral.Yet,this doesn’t fully explain why the share would fall so significantly given that Khalifa holds around 8 million shares over and above the pledge. The reported short position identified in my previous post isn’t that sizeable, just short of 2% of the equity. It has been built up by AQR capital management who are based in Greenwich,Connecticut,USA.They have $196bn under management and offices worldwide. Some of their senior staff are x Goldmans.AQR have increased the short by 0.4% of the equity in March alone increasing it last on Tuesday of this week.I fear this short ,albeit small, should treated with respect.

Bought 2158p and 2122p. Sold 2309p. Near perfect 1-day-trade for once! No idea why the drop yesterday but I am very grateful 🙏🏼 Will probably take a long-term position in a few weeks time.

Yeah just read article, As i thought short sellers focusing on NMC's related-party transactions and hammering the price down, for it to recover near EOD.

Just seems odd, Maybe Jeffries took out a large short position on this stock, All other brokers see it as a buy/strong buy. Also year on year profits up and on target for 2019. Will have to see. GLTA.
