10/2/2025 16:50:13 | bough BSIF today! no luck with NESF! Any reason for the divergence? BSIF should be low risk with minimal leverage though I do not like the fact that they invest not just in solar but in too many other things | fram7
10/2/2025 16:15:56 | Appears the sun isn't shining on BSIF (or rather, the only one of the 3 where the seller still isn't cleared IMO). | spectoacc
10/2/2025 15:56:56 | The three mentioned above :- | skinny
10/2/2025 15:40:10 | It might possibly be better to spread risk but I suppose if someone is looking to get lucky with a bit of random trading, then piling into one trust is as good as another.
Good luck with that strategy ! Especially if a couple of “wins” makes you think its sound. | yump
10/2/2025 12:52:51 | buying NESF!!! I have also found this CLO ETF I really like. Do you have ay opinion? hxxps://www.hl.co.uk/shares/shares-search-results/f/fair-oaks-income-ltd-ord-npv-usd-2021 | fram7
10/2/2025 12:00:42 | I recently sold out of BSIF at 89p and UKW at 131p and reinvested into NESF on circa average 35% higher dividend yield. Also now showing a nice capital gain on NESF, all the more sweeter with other 2 down circa 10% since selling. | 2wild
10/2/2025 11:41:48 | Better be quick, sector finally starting to show some strength. Hoping it's just the start. | its the oxman
09/2/2025 18:41:38 | I am studying these energy trusts in order to invest very soon. All fairly similar.
They have been falling a lot! What is the reason of such fall? high interest rates?
I had a look the below. I studied in details NEFS which looks good to me apart from gearing but then the ADVFN friend suggested SEIT which look amazing looking at basic data but I do not understand why it has been falling more than the others with a NAV discount of 43%? (ENRG -50% on NAV but slightly different asset class)
Given that they are all the same size I like NSFS since they concentrate on solar only. My approach is that if you do one thing you should do it better and more efficiently.
But like some of you also like SEIT given the minimum leverage, just concerned if there is a reason for falling a bit more than the others?
NextEnergy Solar Fund Ltd (NESF) SDCL Energy Efficiency Income Trust Plc (SEIT) Foresight Solar Fund Ltd (FSFL) Bluefield Solar Income Fund Limited (BSIF) Foresight Environmental Infrastructure Ltd (FGEN) VH Global Energy Infrastructure Plc (ENRG)
Thank you!!! | fram7 | |
09/2/2025 18:08:32 | NextEnergy a good investment at current prices? Looks good to me! | fram7
09/2/2025 18:06:25 | Hi all! NextEnergy a great investment at current prices? looks good to me! | fram7
09/2/2025 17:57:17 | @nickrl: You make some good points.
It is folly to build more renewable generation when it can be bought, up and running, at a 30–50% discount on the LSE. But perhaps the government subsidy overrides this consideration. If more renewable generation somehow is built, then the profitability of existing BESS installations indeed looks promising.
Personally, I wouldn't care to live next to a grid-scale lithium-ion battery — especially one built with recycled vehicle batteries. There is no such problem with vanadium batteries, but the economic case for them is in question. We read about a great new breakthrough in battery chemistry every year. Perhaps it will happen one day, but I am getting too weary of the claims to pay attention any more. | meanreverter
09/2/2025 16:36:48 | @meanreverter be surprised if GRIDs dividend is anywhere near that high as they want to embark on a 3yr expansion plan and will need an element of free cash to support that endeavour. Remember its all about maximising Gresham Houses income stream not shareholders there. Thats said the BESS market at last looks more conducive to certain cash generation. With solar I can see that the merchant price will get squeezed across this decade as even more solar generation gets added and outruns the need for power in high summer. NESF are insulated to a degree with subsidy profile but these start to fall away as the decade ends. | nickrl
09/2/2025 11:54:39 | I also hold all 3, didn't think I had anything in common with Speccy but there you go.

08/2/2025 21:38:08 | I hold all 3 as well | gateside
08/2/2025 20:41:31 | @meanreverter - despite holding all 3, two of them in size, I admit the minutiae of each escapes me. NESF seem to achieve both amortisation and a huge divi, but are their assets/financials better or worse? I don't honestly know.
Think that's how I've ended up with all 3. | spectoacc
08/2/2025 16:35:36 | is NextEnergy Solar Fund a good investment? looks good with massive NAV discount although falling profitability | fram7
07/2/2025 17:05:21 | SpectoAcc : FSFL and BSIF have a lower dividend yield than NESF. Do you think that this is justified? | meanreverter
07/2/2025 14:36:02 | And goes 2.1p XD in 6 days, coincidentally. More to come I hope.
FSFL also off the bottom. BSIF still unloved, but went XD itself yesterday.
It may be a capital rollercoaster with this lot, but at least the divis pour in. | spectoacc
07/2/2025 14:34:30 | Now up 15% from recent low. At 76p yield would still be just ober 11%. | 2wild

06/2/2025 11:35:33 | FinallyI assume the div declaration has put any div cut concerns to bed for now. Not sure where the concerns were coming from anyway. The div has always been forecast to be well covered. | mantelsloris
06/2/2025 11:23:45 | Main hope is none of these reit’s get taken out on the cheap just as share price recovery is likely. | yump
