21/1/2025 13:42:26 | @specto last 48hrs we would have been a UK wide blackout if it wasn't for the gas power stations running flat out. Of course Millibrain wont answer questions on how we are going to cope in his brave new world.
@2wild the UN should have forced all countries to count emissions of what they import the UK would look rather worse and force politicians to realise offshoring what we need to countries who have lower environmental standards and aren't interested in cutting emissions.
Back on topic forward power prices are holding up currently so hope NESF have captured some of that before the next wave of solar projects come online and certainly push down the day ahead prices in summer. | nickrl
20/1/2025 20:07:19 | Who's Annette? ;)
"Climate is global" is what I want to scream at the Greens, and particularly the future Sir Ed Miliband. I hope they make a statue of him. Out of him.
There's logical things to do - renewable energy, nuclear, clean gas - and there's stupid things, like not building any more gas-fired, letting Drax burn trees, and refusing new permits to oil/gas so we can import it from abroad instead. And destroying the North Sea.
Fossil fuels will be needed for the foreseeable, as back-up for renewables. Isn't rocket science. Ed is a cretin.
I'd question this govnt losing control of pricing, and choosing to effectively go after the renewables ITs, but in the absence of that they look like bargains. | spectoacc
20/1/2025 18:32:12 | Annette zero policy by 2030 it's surely relevant to this and other renewable shares. It is a ridiculously silly target as the expense will be immense. Making UK Industries even more uncompetitive. Given UK is less than 1% of global population, will do nothing to slow global warming. May even make things worse as we have to import more stuff from overseas, including oil & gas. Shipping by sea and air is relly bad causing pollution and releasing greenhouse gases.
Of course it's a good idea to turn off gas and oil power stations when the sun is shining and wind turbines are turning. NESF and other renewable investment trusts are now so out of favour and have ridiculously generous yields. A fabulous opportunity to average in. | 2wild

13/1/2025 16:49:54 | The Govt’s goal is pie in the sky along with their energy policy/ net zero goals! | tag57
13/1/2025 16:39:01 | The UK's solar energy is expected to grow rapidly, with an annual growth rate of 23.53% between 2023 and 2028. The government's goal is to have 70 GW of solar power installed by 2035 | pol123
11/1/2025 10:52:28 | Really need some good news here to break this spiral! I would love to see the last two recycling assets get sold and more buy backs announced at this crazy price! | mantelsloris

Note: Solar can be the cheapest OR the most expensive. Too much renewables and the total system cost is higher.
I would argue that Ed Millibrain has axed this data as a corollary of this hxxps://x.com/clairecoutinho/status/1877678160260501921?s=46 | adam
10/1/2025 11:10:08 | Been watching this one for a while now. Finally taken the plunge at 61.9p. No stamp duty bonus. May not be the bottom, although should be close enough yielding 13.5%. I think paying 4.75% on 200 million preference shares is positive. Given UK five year government bonds are currently yielding 4.55%. | 2wild
08/1/2025 22:21:51 | 13.5% yield now! | gateside

08/1/2025 17:09:42 | Will we get a floor - difficult not to see more bad economic news ahead this year. We've not even had the US big tech equity crash yet :)
Saying that, NESF looks at least as cheap as all the others out there. | spectoacc
08/1/2025 17:03:22 | Yield 13.48% absolute madness but until we have floor of govt bonds not sure wise to invest here | nickrl
08/1/2025 16:38:43 | Surely the only way this price is justified is if there is a big cut to the dividend? | mantelsloris
