28/8/2007 08:37 | Worth waiting for: "Neptune intends to lodge its first Mining Licence Application (MLA) to the New Zealand Government over these inactive SMS zones" Imminent fundraising alert: "It is intended, subject to securing the funding, that Trident..." | rapier686
02/8/2007 23:24 | A maiden Minesite article: I guess this means the company thought they better subscribe to the august journal before trying to raise more cash ... ;) | mattybuoy
01/8/2007 13:49 | Yes, not unpromising and could be the start of something tasty. On the other hand, they could have the same half way through their first programme where "Neptune identified more metal-rich chimneys but less SMS sediment accumulation than had been expected." And there must already be a fair bit in the price for this explo voyage. Glad they told us but inconclusive for now. Look forward to September. | rapier686
01/8/2007 13:29 | Not sure. It's not really saying anything much other than they have found some chimneys at "Rumble II". We don't know the extent of the "field" yet. I dare say when the ship is mended and the program is complete they will be able to say more. | mattybuoy
01/8/2007 13:22 | I guess any other day this annoucement would have pushed the stock alot higher any thoughts anybody | calmtrader
24/7/2007 15:53 | Guys is it Aug when we can expect to see the next updates? | calmtrader
18/7/2007 12:17 | Re. Holdings RNS Well we are fully hedge funded up! Not sure whether that's good or bad really ... | mattybuoy
03/7/2007 12:24 | You can set up email alerts at Investegate for whichever companies are of interest. A very useful facility :) | mattybuoy
03/7/2007 12:06 | Thanks Matt, despite trying to scan RNSs every day for anything that interests me I often miss announcements and hadn't seen this. I agree it won't result in a mining-licence, but also that it's to be liked. a) It fulfills the licence conditions. b) It gives confidence that they still believe in the prospectivity of the NZ licences and are not switching their efforts now they have granted licences on known deposits. c) It gives further credence to their delay explanations being due to difficulty getting their mitts on a suitable craft - one comes free for a month and they're grabbing it. | rapier686
03/7/2007 11:45 | It's good. They need to do a minimum amount of work on all their properties in order to keep the permits. Having a boat unexpectedly come free enables them to do this on the "other" two NZ licenses. However, since it's only a high-level scan I wouldn't expect anything material to arise from this particular work. | mattybuoy
03/7/2007 11:30 | Mattybuoy Just wondered what you though of yesterday annoucement. | calmtrader
25/6/2007 22:29 | More Mineweb coverage, though this time it's "generic": | mattybuoy
24/6/2007 22:41 | Neptune mentioned in Minesite weekly roundup: Shares in Neptune Minerals (AIM: NPM), the undersea mining company, rose 13 per cent to 36.25p after a subsidiary of Newmont Mining Corporation subscribed for £2.5 million worth of shares in the company at a price of 36p. Newmont has also been granted the right of first refusal on joint ventures over Neptune projects within New Zealand, Japan, and Papua New Guinea. | mattybuoy
21/6/2007 11:53 | Hmm beer :) You can email me at [deleted]. | mattybuoy
20/6/2007 18:45 | Newmont has agreed to conduct metallurgical test work on the bulk SMS samples that Neptune intends to collect during the current Kermadec 07 exploration work program. Do we think Newmont would have allowed that to be said if they weren't reasonable optimistic about the finding of said "bulk samples"? Roll on August :) | mattybuoy
20/6/2007 17:33 | Not sure I agree about the good sign. From Neptune's POV securing funds at this point in time has to be about ensuring they have sufficient cash to tackle Conical Seamount explo even if this campaign flops too. Which means they're not yet certain it won't flop! Minor promising signs perhaps, which maybe tipped Newmont into doing the deal. But nothing stunning - yet. Good as the deal was, if they were sitting on a major success they could have done a far better one. | rapier686
20/6/2007 16:58 | Indeed, it's all about finding those "bulk samples". Presumably some of the NZ seamounts have shallower slopes than others, and these may be amongst the "numerous targets" for Kermadec 07. I suppose it may be a good sign that the Newmont deal transpired after the program had commenced. Fingers crossed ... ;) | mattybuoy
20/6/2007 15:40 | Wow, I knew he talks a confident game but Mr Heydon's talking about a second ship before they've even tried out the first one! Yes, it would do a lot more to £22m mcap than £325m! And it's entirely plausible - we know there are a superfluity of chimneys in the region. And now they know of one control on non-accumulation of sediment they didn't before. Let's just hope they have the opportunity to "bulk samples of SMS sediment of up to several hundred kilograms per sample"! Still, wishing won't make it so - though they'll be half way though now. Roll on August when us plebs get to find out for real. | rapier686
20/6/2007 15:06 | Look at today's NUS drilling report for Solwara 5,6 & 7 Laboratory testing of 24 samples across the three prospects returned an average grade of 17.5 g/t gold, 8.94% copper, 16.84% zinc and 298 g/t silver. Not bad eh? We just need to see the word Kermadec in there and it's chocks away :) | mattybuoy
19/6/2007 17:22 | Mineweb coverage: "Newmont invests below the waves" | mattybuoy
19/6/2007 08:16 | thanks for your replies ,i think i need to spend today studying this. At the moment i cant get past , this is one of two things......dead in the water or the future of mining.certainly the more informed think the latter. i'm suprised (as has been said i think) the wires are not buzzing with talk of the concept.no doubt you know the answer , but i would guess the ore grades to be pretty great too.see ya later. | champnchip
19/6/2007 08:00 | Champ - yes I do mean Neptune. Both they and Nautilus both make a thing of being first, no doubt due to precise definitions of what they're been first to do. But there can be no reasonable doubt that at the moment Nautilus are leading the race to actually mine and if Neptune are to be first across the finishing line it'll be one very impressive overtaking manouevre. As to funds - sure £2.5m will get itself spent on a research cruise or two. There will be more dilution. But yesterdays announcement is not that of a company struggling to raise a penny any way it can. £2.5m is small change to Newmont (06 turnover $5bn, 06 cashflow from ops $1.2bn, shareholder equity $9bn). Surely the sum is Neptune's choice of what they wanted right now diluting around this price, not the limit of Newmont's willingness to fund. For Newmont, they've invested not spent the £2.5m and they now have first refusal on participation and operatorship on a Conical Seamount JV. | rapier686
19/6/2007 07:39 | Well I can give you a list of losers to balance my purchase of Nautilus (only in that and Weatherly have I made almost perfect timing)! | wolstencroft
19/6/2007 07:35 | "yes I think 2nd mover has a lot to recommend itself." Morning, i thought this must mean neptune, but their rns says they were first ,how come nautilus have got ahead .How far will the fund raising get them(NPM),i'm thinking they may find themselves going through 2.5 m fairly quickly .I'll try to contribute something soon and not keep tugging at your coat-tails. | champnchip |
