10/7/2008 09:48 | Just noticed that the 370k sold by AXA yesterday was got rid of at 150p, i.e at the mid-price. A pretty good sign that there's interest out there, and maybe the reason for the action today? | rivaldo
10/7/2008 09:40 | Looks like something is happening today. Trades were a bit strange yesterday but they must have been mainly buys as we are up 15% on low volume today. | clogue
10/7/2008 09:37 | Er....! AXA have sold a few, but otherwise no news, so....is there a whisper that the bid is finally going to happen? | rivaldo
10/7/2008 09:36 | Good call Louish - up 28.5p and rising. Have a small holding in my daughter's child trust fund and now in profit. Just nice to see something rising in such poor equity markets. | gavis
09/7/2008 22:01 | Big trades going through today not sure if they are buys or sells - must be something happening - hopefully rise in share price tomorrow? | louish
09/7/2008 16:08 | Come on then NCH, where's this bid then?! I suppose the good news is that if it's taken this long it must be serious. A nice mention here following a breach of security at Google: "Nemertes Impact Analysis: Hopefully No Match Found: Google Experiences Third-Party Data Breach The Impact Analysis is a weekly quick-take on breaking IT news. Nemertes provides expert insight on how recent IT news affects you. Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) experienced a data breach at a third-party services provider. This highlights the need to protect employee and customer data wherever it's stored. The issue is not if your data will be breached, but when. Best practices include encryption, strong key management and diligent audits and policy enforcement. In Nemertes' Security and Information Protection benchmark, 29% of participants do not yet conduct regular internal audits of their security systems. There is still room for improvement. Impacts: Enterprises: Implement regular internal audits and extend security policies (and audits) to include any third-party providers that have access to employee data. Vendors: The opportunity for third-party providers is to adopt security best practices including ISO 27001 and SAS70 to make data protection a market differentiator. Investors: Encryption is the common thread for data privacy. High profile breaches increase the interest in companies, including: nCipher (LON:NCH) and privately held CipherMax, GuardianEdge and SafeNet. Ted Ritter, Research Analyst" | rivaldo

30/6/2008 09:09 | Give back to the needy By Mike Southon Published: June 28 2008 03:00 | Last updated: June 28 2008 03:00 Entrepreneurs, once they have made a successful exit from their businesses, often support charities and mentor young people. But successful entrepreneur Alex van Someren found a more interesting way of "giving back". It all started when the 14-year-old van Someren wrote off to computer company Acorn saying how much he liked its product | erpguru
29/5/2008 14:03 | It's been a month and a half since the initial takeover approaches RNS, so I suppose we can assume things are serious. The IMS confirmed talks are still ongoing with a number of bidders. Let's hope somethings happens soon! Looks like the bidders saw this from the end of March: "You Will Be Breached. Make Sure Your Data is Worthless RSA, EMC's (NYSE:EMC) security division has announced a joint development with Brocade (NASDAQ:BRCD) to integrate encryption and key management into Brocade's Data Center Fabric (DCF) storage architecture. This development underscores Nemertes' finding in benchmark, Security and Information Protection, that 35% of participants have experienced a data security breach in the past three years. The next best defense to preventing a breach is to make sure that breached data is encrypted, and thus worthless. Impacts: Enterprises: Implementing strong key management and encryption of all archived data is the difference between an annoying misplacement of backup tapes and the need to notify 50,000 customers of a potential identity breach. Vendors: Storage vendors should look for joint ventures with encryption/key management vendors, and vice versa. Investors: Just as EMC owns RSA, look for additional storage company security acquisitions. Potential candidates include: nCipher (LON:NCH) and privately held CipherMax, GuardianEdge and SafeNet." | rivaldo
14/5/2008 07:51 | News dated yesterday - I like that "Jack Henry & Associates, Inc. (Nasdaq:JKHY) is a leading provider of computer systems and ATM/debit card/ACH transaction processing services primarily for financial services organizations. Its technology solutions serve more than 8,700 customers nationwide": "nCipher Partners with Jack Henry & Associates, Inc. to Provide Storage Encryption Solutions for Credit Union Industry Jack Henry & Associates' Symitar Subsidiary to Resell nCipher's CryptoStor Storage Encryption and Key Management Appliance as Part of Its Financial Services Security Offering MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--nCipher plc (LSE:NCH), a global leader in protecting critical enterprise data and Jack Henry & Associates Inc.® (Nasdaq:JKHY), a leading provider of integrated technology solutions and data processing services for financial institutions, today announced a partnership in which Jack Henry & Associates' subsidiary, Symitar, will resell nCipher's CryptoStor product as part of its solution offering. Symitar, which supplies credit unions with software systems and related services, has already deployed the nCipher CryptoStor product in a number of credit unions including Lockheed Federal Credit Union. "The CryptoStor storage encryption appliance has a proven track record with my data processing department uncomplicated installation, extremely reliable, simple user-friendly features, and complete transparency with our daily processing and speed of backups. It's exactly what we were looking for in an encryption device. We are so impressed with this unit we have ordered two more for our new IBM® systems. Our off-site media is now safe with this device," said Joe Gates, data processing manager of Lockheed Federal Credit Union in Burbank, California. Security regulations and compliance mandates require organizations especially those in the financial services markets to encrypt sensitive information throughout the entire data lifecycle including storage and back-up and recovery systems. Given the large volume of sensitive data that financial services organizations manage, these businesses must evaluate encryption solutions based on a number of criteria. The most important factors are the ease of deployment, the key management capabilities that secure data integrity and assure the on-demand access and recovery of keys, and the overall affect on network speed and performance. "As solution providers for financial institutions, we are charged with delivering technology that not only meets today's most stringent data security and regulatory requirements, but does it in an easy-to-manage form factor with minimal performance impact and the ability to meet disaster recovery guidelines," said Kathy Hooker Burress, president of Symitar. "nCipher's CryptoStor allows us to offer a risk management solution that delivers unprecedented security and superior key management capabilities all in one easy-to-deploy appliance that helps minimize potential business interruptions." "As a leading solutions provider for the financial services industry, Symitar knows first hand that its customers need an encryption and key management solution that meets compliance regulations by securing data at-rest and protecting against the loss or theft of encryption keys," said Richard Moulds, executive vice president of Product Strategy at nCipher. "nCipher is pleased to partner with Symitar to assure that its current and future customers' storage security requirements can be satisfied in a convenient and quickly deployed manner."" | rivaldo

21/4/2008 07:52 | Interesting article about PKI etc if you're interested, with a mention for NCH: "Q: Are there partnerships or alliances that are proving to be important for the growth of your company? ES: Absolutely, we don't live in isolation in these environments, in particular around the authentication base and Entrust doesn't make cryptographic hardware. So in a lot of these projects where smart card or other types of crypto chips or other types of hardware security modules are being used we certainly relied on partnership with the likes of SafeNet,nCipher, ActivIdentity and Gemalto and any other typical players in hardware space to deliver the hardware component of these solutions. That's absolutely essential." | rivaldo
18/4/2008 08:21 | The market is too big for a small fish like NCH to survive on its on....even acquisition news elsewhere in the sector will put a rocket under NCH imo. I am looking for an offer at well above 250p | nurdin
17/4/2008 21:35 | riv - a bid might take a month or two to surface, but even if that's a "no show" NCH are worth a longer wait than that IMHO. | napoleon 14th |
