Hey newbank, someone's establishing facts is clearly another person's splitting hairs. Hope you're not called for jury service any time soon.

Not sure I should ask this but what is this mentality of a left wing person you refer to? As an example would they know the difference between a real and Nominal return?

On a more relevant note did you ever get to what you think is an appropriate return for the riio t2 upcoming price control? Interested in hearing yours and others opinions, could be some volatility as that gets resolved.

I noticed on a recent gema agenda that it was being discussed as was Hinkley point so could be news soon, hold on to your hats.....

Exactly. I think BATS has recently switched from 2 payments to 4 now. I've got stocks which pay 4 divis a year and the volatility in them is considerably low compared to this, and I agree, having 4 equal or not so equal payments a year could help reduce the outflow of money after the final divi and keep this going smoothly. And will keep investors interested in keeping their cash in the stock and reinvesting rather than trading it before and after ex divi. GSK is another where they pay 3 equal and a 4th slightly higher, but it's been doing consistently well recently.

Has this become and anti Leftie board or are we still an NG. focussed board?

Action I'm a bit wowed. Sometimes it comes together on a trade, sometimes it goes belly up. Ran GSK from 1279 to 1585..cant understand GSK with its massive gearing. Got in here on an exchange at 827 choosing here over Standard Life or BAT( SL has continued to collapse, BAT has rallied big). Guessed NG might be the middle safe option.

Aganatra20,

Good question. This has been raised at the AGM in 2015. Most of NG’s revenues come in the second half of the year, hence the 35%/65% split (interim / Final) but it has been suggested that money for dividends can be held to give equal quarters.

At present, investors only have to hold the shares days before the final ex Divi date around 31st May to get 65% of the years total dividend. So shares can be sold and the money recycled to buy shares in other revenue / income stock.

BP are one of many Companies that use quarterly paid dividends and as a result there is less volatility in the share price.

Silly question, but is there a reason why NG doesn't do 4 divi payments in a year like some of the other blue chip companies?

It is a pity we cannot discuss matters in a balanced way. Many of the adv bulletin boards just want people to agree with their point of view.
There are major events unfolding on the world stage which must impact Ng as a company.

Trumps Policies
Reaction of Trading partners to those policies
Rising interest rates
Soft Brexit
Hard Brexit
Political Turmoil
Labour Government
Debt levels run up by governments

Whatever your view these things matter.

Uty,

I can see that your post to Action was a ‘light hearted comment’ or you were ‘joking’ but the share price did hit £10.97 on 31st May 2017 so not far off the point you were making. Whose splitting hairs except Prewar?

It’s interesting to note his/her last comment acknowledges he/she is Left Wing and all that goes with the mentality, so I can understand your point in not engaging – good on you! :)

Morning uty, thanks for the reply.

Just trying to establish the facts, was the share price at over £11 at any point in the last year (and a day)? BTW I'm talking Earth years here. Yes/No answer will be fine, no need for extended debate. Surely you have the time for typing two letters?

Obviously my comments are childish, I guess one way to avoid this is for people to post facts, things they can substantiate. If I cba I'll carry on calling out total nonsense so people can get an alternative view, afaik we aren't become a totalitarian state just yet?

Not sure why you brought up my left wing (some would confuse for Marxist (if they were a bit fick)) views? Seemed a bit irrelevant that?

Have a great day (thumbs up emoji).

Are you just full of derogatory comments Prewar?

This is a B.B. for investors in NG. If you don’t find anything posted to your liking then so be it, but please keep it polite.

I have no intention of debating / challenging numerous childish comments you raise.

You are obviously a Left Wing supporter, where your ideology blinds you, in that you hear what you want to hear and disregard anything that doesn’t side with your belief.

You make so many assumptions that are so wrong, it’s comical.

Have a good evening👍

Action,

I presume the “wow 8.61” is a sarcastic remark? :)

After all the share price is still £3 down from a year ago, where many investors reinvested the special divi in the hope that focus on lucrative business areas, away from highly regulated U.K. business, was the way forward.

Also,

Just noticed that Khan Badar, Director of NG in the US has sold 3492 ADR's at $55.22 / ADR

This to me shows a lack of confidence in the Company for which he works for. Especially as the shares should be £12 / share (and a corresponding figure to ADR = $79.2) and as the shares are seen as oversold and undervalued.

The sale doesn't indicate its a sale to cover tax receipts.

At last years AGM there was criticism of a UK director not buying shares in the Company which questions their resolve to meet their prime objective to deliver investor income and capital growth. As one investor at the AGM put it they should be willing to put their house on the shares otherwise it shows the policy adopted is flawed!

Bounty,

Looks like Uty was right with regard to the yanks pushing this down, only to ramp it up after our close.

Look at the charts, at 17:08 at time of posting the ADR's are $56 based on 5 UK shares = 1 ADR and the official exchange rate today is $1.32 = £1

56/5 = 11.2 / 1.32 = £8.484 and what does adorn state its close at ...£8.384???

Someone is taking the P...!
