Market purchase of shares

to be held in the Company's employee benefit trust

National Express Group PLC ("Company") today confirms it has been notified that on 5 October 2018, First Names Corporate Services Limited, acting as Trustee of the National Express Group Employee Benefit Trust ("Trust"), purchased 947,341 ordinary shares of nominal value 5 pence each in the capital of the Company ("Shares") at an average price of 397.261p per share on the London Stock Exchange.

The Trust holds Shares for the benefit of the Company's employees, in particular for satisfying the future vesting of outstanding awards made under the Company's various employee share incentive plans. As such, the Company's Executive Directors, as PDMRs, are amongst the potential beneficiaries of the Shares purchased and held in the Trust.

Immediately following the above transaction, the Trust holds 1,407,622 Shares for the above purpose, representing 0.29% of the Company's issued share capital with voting rights.
