25/7/2018 09:37 | Back in for a few pre results.... | stardog2
20/7/2018 09:06 | Can we expect three lots of half year results next week then? ( One set of results doesn't come along for ages then three turn up at same time - just like their buses).Joking apart then will await the results with interest.... | livewireplus
20/7/2018 08:58 | Half year results next Thurs. Get in before the positive update. | m4rtinu
06/7/2018 14:29 | The Nat Exp coach journey covered 600 miles in less than 24 hours. That all went smoothly with that. As far as i recall then NEX took over a company called Flights who used to operate between Birmingham and various Airports - mainly Heathrow and Gatwick. The services on that seemed to remain fairly efficient. One when the coach broke down on motorway then they handled it fairly well - heavy tow truck was there quickly to pull us to next exit. The next coach behind was diverted off at that exit to pick-up as many passengers as it could - i managed to get on that - so don't know how long remaining passengers had to wait.... Enough of my ramblings for today.... As regards my strategy then it does leave my afternoons and evenings free for other things like general company research, OU study, propping up bar ( those listed in reverse order | livewireplus
06/7/2018 14:18 | Thanks for reply. Indeed NEX share price does seem to be progressing in a fairly smooth upward manner. I think in Brum then it may just be case of local management that take care of the day to day running of services. As i mentioned previously then NEX seem goog at adding new routes / ammending existing routes as requirements change over time. They have some nice new buses as well. So the routes and new equipment are more strategic decissions so without going in to the company structure are probably made by different management than day to day operations. For various reasons haven't owned a car for last few years - just hire one for specific purposes once in a blue moon. So for longer distance journies rely on train although once recently got a long distance Nat Exp coach | livewireplus
06/7/2018 13:02 | Livewire - I appreciate your reply. Arriva sound like they are doing a good job. For the record, I have a small holding of NEX. Have been in and out a couple of times recently, making a small profit. Low hundreds. Becoming more difficult to get back in at a low enough price. In spite of the problems in your area, the company as a whole seems to be doing well. Esp as they got out of UK trains. Only concern is debt. Regards. BTW - you have an interesting strategy, which I hadn't heard of before, but seems a good idea. | m4rtinu
06/7/2018 10:44 | (Typing on smartphone so excuse interuptions in posts... ) Arriva still operating the company they took over in the other companies name with a small sticker inside bus saying part of Arriva group.... All the drivers are ex NEX - and they stop to pick-up passengers they know who haven't got to a stop yet - they keep same drivers on same route so drivers know customers .... whether same will continue then time will tell.... | livewireplus
06/7/2018 10:38 | …. but didn't proceed with purchasing any NEX after checking further .... anticipating an overall market downturn. Did hold ROL once - another bus company with operations in Birmingham - bought in when they looked undervalued but sold out when I noticed the physical state of their buses seemed to be deteriorating... From personal experience then it is the third of the operators in Birmingham that seem reasonable - Arriva. Besides operating under tbeir own name they have taken over at least one other private bus company there and still operate it under | livewireplus
06/7/2018 10:29 | M4 .... you are quite welcome to ask... I don't hold or never had shares in NEX. I usually monitor the morning RNS's and select two or three to look at more closely - it was the NEX Morocco one that caught my eye and brought me to look further including on this thread.... | livewireplus
05/7/2018 09:00 | LW - that sounds poor; both re service and lack of good response. BTW And this is not meant to be taking the p... but as you have posted do you hold shares in NEX? | m4rtinu
04/7/2018 19:23 | Their traffic planning seems quite good in terms of route planning (new routes / amended routes to meet passenger requirements). But the traffic management of routes (time keeping / staffing) is now aweful. Just had s relative arrive home by taking an Arriva bus and walking half a mile because thst was quicker than getting an NX to a stop with a 50m walk - as on a route that is sheduled to have bus every 8 mins the real time indicator wad showing 30 mins to next NX bus and then 4 of them together within a couple of mins of each other on same route. All the buses will be having their positions monitored and recorded but obviously no one at NX HQ is bothered. Have e-mailed them before and responces were a waste of time .... | livewireplus
04/7/2018 19:00 | They don't seem bothered. They used have inspectors timing buses in city centre and doing their best to maintain time keeping.... Now never an inspector in site for time keeping purposes nowadays ( though they do hang out in groups of four or so and stop buses to do ticket inspections with the buses being further delayed at the stops). Would seem the monitoring of the GPS tracking isn"t bothered with as nothing is done about bunching of buses which even continues at quiet times because drivers seem just to be left to sort out bunching themselves. | livewireplus
04/7/2018 08:46 | LW - have you let the company know? They should not let UK standards fall, whilst pursuing business further afield. | m4rtinu
04/7/2018 07:53 | But pity they can't manage to run buses to scheduled timetable in their HQ city of Birmingham.... | livewireplus
04/7/2018 07:50 | Yes, We really need to find Gateside to change the v old picture of when the owned GNER. A picture of an ABSA bus now much more appropriate. | 18bt
04/7/2018 07:47 | Good news this am. see RNS above | m4rtinu
17/5/2018 09:06 | Mixed reaction in the market to the update. Up to around 418p yesterday, back down to 402p today. Most geographical sectors increasing revenue, ex German train. %ages possibly exaggerated by "constant currency" comparisons but up about 2% on "reporting basis". Profit margins said to be increasing. Credit facility renewed. A couple more acquisitions made and more in the pipeline it seems. Some revenue lost due to bad weather by "school bus" in US. They said they could recover that but don't see how, unless kids have to go in on extra days? | m4rtinu
14/5/2018 19:46 | Q1 trading update due on Wed (16th May). | m4rtinu
15/4/2018 18:20 | Star - that's what I'm hoping. I didn't get much more in share price than you. I should have had courage of convictions. I agree re-rating, think I'll have to pass on getting back in for the moment. Looks like it could go much higher, but don't want to get caught at too high an entry. The broker ratings, which may not be worth much are mostly in high 300's to mid 400's range, though Numis (on LSE) is quoted as 800, which must be a mistake. I am still at a loss to see what is moving SP, as far as trades are concerned. Any ideas? | m4rtinu
15/4/2018 15:53 | I hope you got your 4.10, I also wish I had held on. Looks like it's moved into a new higher trading range. Time will tell but this stock usually gives you an opportunity to get back in much lower. | stardog2
06/4/2018 15:38 | Not sure what is moving share price at mo. Largest trades appear to be sells? I sold out recently but am starting to wish I hadn't. I have a much lower share price for re-entry. | m4rtinu
06/3/2018 20:22 | I'm looking at £4.10 now. No particular reason. I do like the company and am tempted to stay. I would like my cake and to eat it too. So will previous patterns be repeated or will it stay up. Good luck, Star. Your timing seemed pretty good this time around and never hurts to take a profit. | m4rtinu
06/3/2018 17:47 | I'm afraid I cashed in today and took my profit. Could be too soon but happy to leave some profit on the table for the next man. Will look to get back in on any future weakness before ex div. Good luck M4rtinu, your patience may well pay off this time. | stardog2
06/3/2018 16:48 | Like I said "a little retrace" ;) Might have to be greedy and revise my TP upwards. Even bigger volume today and UT not yet included. c. 5m shares traded and 3 month ave is 500K Actually other sources show 3.5m traded. | m4rtinu |
