I think the share price would have to sink a lot lower before a bid came.I think they have many problems to resolve still.

They want to be Burberry and they never will be. Its the leather bags the Asians want at not the totally over priced ready to wear range. Emma Hill leaving was a huge loss----and no replacement!

Seems the French MD is a Trojan horse injected into their midst by LVMH. He's making a great job of trashing the business. They also need a new designer.

Only as expected, they expand to meet demand and demand falls. Costs increase with servicing the international market but that said they say they are still on the right side and earning cash.

Finally a dose of reality here. Mulberry made a massive mistake in raising their prices to those of genuine premium retailers and is now paying the price for overly aggressive expansion too.

So what do do make of todays news CR?

With a gross margin of over 60% the 16% increase in the price of leather will have little impact I expect but the cost of opening the Paris store and other outlets may start to cause strain and deplete the cash pile.

From the Telegraph

Luxury handbag maker Mulberry will post half-year results, with the City hopeful for news of progress in the company's hunt for a new creative director. Mulberry announced in June that its highly-regarded creative director, Emma Hill, was leaving the business, but has yet to announce her replacement. In terms of the company's results, analysts have forecast for the year that revenues will rise 10pc, with pre-tax profits also increasing 10pc

According to the Independent have teamed up with the now Japanese owned(Scottish) Mackintosh company, marketing a dotty (literaly) raincoat in the inevitable board-like double texture fabric at £1750! When will they produce the much more wearable and flexible single texture mackintoshes such as we used to have? Can't see this move as restoring shareholder value.

Great fundamental drivers here. Little hiccup after the creative director left but seems back on track now.

Product reassuringly expensive. Even my wife just bought a Mulberry copy handbag - how can company fail with its international expansion plans after that!? Product desirable - end of!
