Presumably that is in one of their funds rather than holding directly.

They own 8.8% of Techfinancials which floated recently, and looks very interesting to say the least.

All quiet on the day of the results. I think this is a really good company with great prospects. New investment trust launch looks good as well. Will try and obtain the prospectus. This will no doubt attract more attention at some point. Quite happy that it's off most people's radar at the moment though. Bodes well. Think it will multi-bag from here, when it really gets going.

I see that Gervais Williams has invested a further £75K by adding 295,000 @25.5p a few weeks ago. Interested to see the results here which are due out in 5 weeks time at the end of March.

Well it looks like I was pretty much bang-on with my AUM calculation. They have obviously had a tough year. Sounds like fund performance is good though and they have now cleaned the decks for a much better 2015. At an enterprise value of only £18m these are cheap. It's a quality group with Gervais Williams at the helm on the equity side. I'm optimistic about the future.

I wonder if Amino (AMO) was one such: AMO bought back several lumps a month ago (forced seller ?) but have jumped 20% since ?

Yes, good point. Probably already happened though as I think the majority of the redemptions have already taken place. I think their core strategies are still doing well.

Sorry if this sounds a stupid question but, if Miton's preference has been for taking stakes in small companies, will this "outflow" cause upset in some small company share prices ?

Yes, I suppose so - they probably had to announce the large outflows. Remember that this year's results are broadly in line. It's next year's results that they have warned on as it will take time to get the FUM up to £3bn again. They will of course probably get a windfall profit coming through on the final contingent consideration for the acquisition that turned sour where the liability will get released.

It will be interesting to see in GW still invests in new small cap IPO's.

Is today's news just to prepare us ?

Well Gervais may have decided that 8m+ shares is enough for him. He already has a considerable stake. Anyone read his new book "The future is small"? Quite an interesting read, although not that much substance. Still, I think Gervais has a fresh and difference perspective on things and has done really well with the Diverse Income Trust.
Anyway, I'm still positive long term on these.

There has got to be a bit more of that happening. watch what happens when GW piles in.

Decided to double-up now as can't see it going much lower and the Chairman has added.

Dow Jones Newswire:

Peel Hunt cuts its target price on Miton Group (MGR.LN) to 35p from 44p after the asset and equity fund manager warned that 2015 adjusted profit will be significantly below current market forecasts. The brokerage also lowers its 2015 pretax profit forecasts to GBP3.6M from GBP5.3M. Peel Hunt maintains its buy recommendation. Miton shares slide 17% to 22.0p.

Do you have the downgraded 2015 forecasts to hand please?

Hybrasil - yes, still around. Kept well clear of Safeland though as I don't trust them.

this is a buy. it is on about 7x downgraded '15 forecasts. as soon as net fund flows stabilise, the multiple will expand. given the flows into performing funds, this will not take too long.

Glad to see you still posting. You and I have been following the same type of share eg Daejan Safeland etc for over ten years.

I like Gervaise Williams I have seen him speak once or twice. I too am standing on the sidelines here.

I suspect this must be now in the bottom end of its trading range and I;ll try and buy in next week but I'll wait till then

Well things have gone downhill fast in 2014 for Miton. Such a shame as they were doing so well in 2012 and 2013. They seem to have had two problems;
- the Founder of PSigma leaving and funds being withdrawn.
- Martin Gray going and then losing significant special situations funds.
Not the clearest of announcements, but working the maths FUM are now £2bn versus £2.6bn at 30 June and £3bn at the start of the year.
Hopefully, their remaining strategies and investment trusts are more secure.
Looking to top-up here now as I do rate Miton as a good small company manager.
Will not attempt to catch a falling knife though and so will await a bit of flattening-off in the share price.

The proposed re-organisation may scare a few holders away but it all looks to be shaping up nicely under Gervais Williams.

Results out - I need to digest the details, but the following was reassuring:

"Group profitability is likely to be materially above market expectations for the year as a whole"

I think that we should be about due some interim results - wonder if that's the reason for some recent activity in this stock?
