From the last trading update -

"As a result, the Group will be loss making in the six months to 28 February 2009
and the Board expects that the Company's results for the full year to 31 August
2009 will be significantly below current market expectations".

Results were then delayed from the initial date quoted in this RNS - 6 May to 28 May. Doesn't sound very good to me. And if there are 'strong results coming through from the Corporate team' then the market would have been notified surely as it would affect the expectations of the market?

I would expect the worst here. Or if not the worst, pretty close. IMHO. I would guess the line will be something like - 'the banks remain supportive and we expect jam tomorrow - despite being back to being a loss making concern'.

Hi,

In the most recent trading statement, they said that H2 is expected to be cashflow positive. And one would imagine with the car market & bank lending moving in the right direction, we might be OK here, who knows? Will just have to wait & see.

Regards,
Paul.

You must truly be a stock guru to ascertain that from the 'notice of results' announcement.

I doubt that you would even get NAV as there are still things that could come back to bite anyone who takes this over. Admin is the best bet for anyone interested. That way they would buy any assets left without the threat of unexpected losses.

40p? That was a supposed offer which didn't get past due diligence. With the price at 5p and the company loss making? I think the realisation must be 'substantially below MPS's expectations'. All IMHO.

So gents, where are MPS going? Rights issue or trade sale? Something must give before they run out of cash - and that's what, three months 'ish away. Or will interested parties wait for admin - if indeed there are any interested parties? Would the main investors back the current management team again - they've been at it for over five years now? What is MPS worth at trade sale? Is it still worth 40p given it's now loss making or are we now looking at its net asset value?

Paul,

Barclays Increased holding last week. They are investing in small caps. Everyone went up last week following their investments. Also Barclays cannot afford any risky investments at the moment, so i feel this has some mileage.

Hi,

Signs of life at long last.
I'm assuming recent share price rebound is probably just in sympathy with all small caps which are bouncing from majorly oversold territory.

I thought this stock was cheap at 32p (ouch), but hopefully it should survive & prosper with the recovery happening in vehicles markets right now. Secondhand values have fully recouped falls of last year. And a mate if mine in car finance says they are rushed off their feet. Credit flowing again, to credit-worthy people & businesses apparently.

Fingers crossed anyway.

Regards,
Paul.

Not a good update for a company in Minorplanet's condition. BTW the update said that the increase in large company sales had been MORE than offset by SME slowdown which makes it worse!

TRADING UPDATE

The Board of Minorplanet is issuing this trading update in advance of its
interim results for the six months ended 28 February 2009, which are expected to
be announced on 6 May 2009.

Substantial progress achieved in larger corporate sales, which increased by 169%
in the UK on the comparable period last year, has been more than offset by a
marked downturn in revenues from SME businesses, particularly in the UK. The
restricted availability of lease finance for Minorplanet's customers in this
sector has had a profound impact on revenues in the period. Significant order
volumes have been received by the Company which it has been unable to complete,
as customers have not been able to obtain finance from third party leasing
providers. The Board is pursuing new funding options for the Group's products in
all its key markets.

As a result, the Group will be loss making in the six months to 28 February 2009
and the Board expects that the Company's results for the full year to 31 August
2009 will be significantly below current market expectations.

Actions taken

Significant headcount reductions have been made, particularly in the UK (15%)
and Australia (18%), to counter the decrease in sales. The Company's bank
remains supportive of the business and the Board expects the Group to generate
positive cash flow from trading in the second half of the year. Working capital,
however, currently remains under pressure and the Board is exploring options to
address the Group's short term funding requirements.

Is it me or are there some contradictions here?

Major progress, increase in large sales which offset SME slowdown. BUT the company expects to make a loss and the board expects full year results to be 'significantly below' market expectations??? Sounds like double speak.

Their bankers are being supportive - through more losses?? Not for long I bet. And funding will not likely come from banks right now who have better things to do with their money like pay down their own debt.

'The board is exploring options to address the groups short term funding requirements'. That'll likely be a cap in hand moment on the way then. But who is going to put up money now without a massive guaranteed return? Especially whilst they still have the big Spanish case hanging over them which is an unknown but potentially hugely costly.

More likely the lights will go out on MPS IMHO.
