How can it be $1.68 with circa 230,000,000 ordinary shares in circulation. Can't seem to find out how many preferential or other shares there are.

Flatoutfred:
In the reverse take-over of HPE Software MCRO are promising a payout to "existing" shareholders of $400 million dollars as a bonus payment prior to completion of the deal.

Here is the quote from the RNS of 8 September 2016:
"Prior to Completion and subject to Micro Focus shareholder approval, Micro Focus intends to undertake a return of value to its existing shareholders of c. US$400 million (the "ROV") equivalent to US$1.68 per Micro Focus share based on the fully diluted share capital of Micro Focus as at 6 September 2016."

Cheers!

MOnty as you post more on here than anyone why don't you understand the rationale for investing in MCRO? I don't post often because I have little to offer and other people don't enjoy prattle. I'd prefer not to advise but I suggest you sell your shares in MCRO - it seems to take up too much of your life - and get out more.

Revenue down 8%, to me that's not a growing business. P.e 36 you can't afford any hiccups otherwise the shareprice gets hammered.

Yes strange

Looks like the whole strategic rationale for the HP deal has passed Monty by
and he such a keen observer too .....

But you do find that, I agree once a company enters the FTSE100 the easy money as been made. They seem to take quite a time for further breakout. Micro really as done nothing since entering Footsie. Ok high p.e at the moment so may take time. But it is drifting and shares don't drift up.

Andy Brough's opinion is his own and for the clients of the funds he manages and he may have loads of reasons to talk his strategy on selling on entry to the FT100.
If I wanted to follow his advice I would be investing in his funds but I don't. In fact I don't invest in structures that charge me fees in order to earn big salaries for themselves.

True, Andy Brough appears to outperform other Fund Managers in his space (for now) but then again over 80% of fund managers, and their funds, UNDERPERFORM the market. How does anyone who wants to invest through managed funds manage that risk (of underperformance)?

The next thing folks will be telling me is to buy ETFs and be a passive investor, which the pundits do... but that's not my strategy and probably not that of most of us on a PI bulletin board ;-)

He may be one of the best fund managers around but there are plenty of shrewder investors out there like the ones who could clearly see at the point that MicroFocus was about to enter into the FTSE 100 that:

US big boy come in and bid.
Safe haven dollar earner.
Tracker funds will have to BUY.
£25 nailed on, another 5 years £75, if not taken over. This is a cash cow.

He does have a point and he is one of the best fund managers around, ok he sold Micro Focus when they went into the FTSE100. Because the easy money been made before entry he reckons. The have done nothing since entry, so perhaps he's right.
