Do some people here actually have trading horizon of a few days? I think I actually saw a post mentioning minutes.. As if random daily vicissitudes had anything to do with fundamentals.

I would add that this is the most uncertain and dangerous situation for the shorters as these can be slaughtered for any positive sign. The beaten share price is just waiting for a signal to spring upwards.

Kenmitch - I can give you another example of the opposite way: Negativity: Check out the trend of FEVR (FeverTree)- Its share price non-stop drop may be due to possible reduction/saturation in sales and profits (probably known behind the scenes). Regarding MCRO, there two possible anticipated news: 1/Renewed interest in a takeover bid as MCRO itself said it is interested to sell parts or the whole company and 2/ Possibility that the next trading update will show the rot has stopped and will maintain previous guidance with positive improvements. So are expecting 2 positive news that will propel the share price iminently as MCRO has in my opinion, finally reached the bottom.

Kenmitch- it's just wishful thinking!
Because the share price has been far higher, and div looks high (if paid), and p/e looks low (historically), it is assumed it must bounce. But I can't see solid business reasons why it should?

Fuji.

So each time the share price goes up you think it confirms “something positive is going on.”

So what does a share price down day tell us please?

Don’t most shares have up and down days?

Can you share your evidence for concluding that a rising Microfocus share price confirms that “something positive is going on?”

But 8 minutes do not represent the full trading day. The market is not closed yet as we still have to trade until 4.30 pm ...

disclosed positions according to hxxps://shorttracker.co.uk/company/GB00BJ1F4N75/

BlackRock Investment Management (UK) Limited 0.61%
Naya Capital Management UK Limited 0.50%
Numeric Investors LLC 0.50%

I think it's more of a case that investors (sentiment) want to put their money elsewhere, which I think it a massive mistake.

It if closes strongly today, it will be the additional evidence of something positive going on.

A sudden sharp rise coinciding with the US opening. Something is probably brewing behind the scenes. Either a renewed interest in the takeover or/and a better update than anticipated (business stabilising with no decrease in revenues with better visibility in contract signings).

Time will tell. I am very confident they will positively turn the corner. This company is not just an unknown start up, but one, if not the largest, software house in the UK.

The company is obviously agonizing, and they have someone at the helm with a big ego who has already taken out most of his money and who probably prefers to go down with his ship rather than acknowledging the reality: that having already cut costs everywhere they can, MCRO is left with very little room for manoeuvre, other than the option of selling some of their core businesses which will only devalue the company even more. Besides, selling legacy software is not a business that could thrive forever, eventually their clients have to adapt and adopt/switch to new technologies if they don't want to be left behind. I for one never sell a stock at a loss, this will be the one exception in years. I am exiting before it gets any worse, putting this dead money to work somewhere else. Good luck to all.

Regardless, the long term investors will survive with an excellent dividend yield of 13 % while any short will be severely burnt in case of a decent update. So the long term holders will always remain in a win/win position.
