From Sharecast - KBC says BUY

The first quarter trading update from recruiter Michael Page was predictably downbeat, given the current employment scenario, but the 'balance sheet and brand are still intact', broker KBC Peel Hunt notes.

The broker notes that group net fee income (NFI) was down 32.3% for the first quarter but believes this was a 'creditable result given the global slowdown'.

The company has £75m of cash on the balance sheet, which should comfort shareholders and enable the company to 'weather the downturn and emerge strongly into the next cycle,' KBC said.

The broker has retained its 'buy' recommendation on the stock and has a target price of 240p.

MPI will survive, only 150 million profit? and when the economy picks up all the people laid off will be hiring again, paying fees and the whole merry go round happens again.

Whats the cash position.

Will get worse like everything in 2009.

Buy the miners in March 2009, everything retail, employment, and manufacturing is finished for 12 months.

Fairly mild warning - this year's profits at the lower end of expectations - but as it has developed over only a couple of months, not a good indicator if activity continues at current levels. And not exactly surprising.

Judging from the recovery from first thing I wonder if punters are betting that Adecco will bid again. When they dropped the bid in September they reserved the right to bid again after a six month period.

With the share price now moving below 360p maybe the
Market now thinks Adecco will not proceed with any form
of firm offer ?

An offer in the region of £6 looks very unlikey. If any offer
is forthcoming can see it being pitched at around £5
