So MTRO basically paying more just to remain in its business Chief executive Craig Donaldson acknowledged a "challenging nine months" and said the bank was "further evaluating our future growth plans".Read as we're trying to figure out how to make our business model profitable - as is it is not After customers withdrew funds, the bank said on Wednesday, it had lured depositors back with better rates for fixed-term deposits, gaining £528m- further reduction in NIM with these incentives

Analyst call was interesting, right at the end the board were asked if they were pursuing a sale or takeover of the bank and their answer was that this was not currently their focus.... So not a no then....

I doubt they will ever be profitable after looking at the result.I hope it works for you Leone.Bottom line is they made a loss compare to profit last quarter. Market won't like it

Positives are those in align research note. Negatives are Nim decline and EPS declines y o y . But I see a relief rally, possible TR1s in days

It's not all roses-Some positives for sure but NIM has fallen To1.58% From 1.82%The 350m 9.5% coupon will further hinder profitability going forward.

Yep. The numbers are what they are. No point blaming it on the media.
And now a 3 month guessing game while they work out their next strategy...

Very nice write up - big gap up tomorrow possibly £2.25-£2.30OpenKey takeaway's are as follows:1. Continued strong customer growth (increase of 109k accounts to 1.9m)2. Contrary to the most vocal bears, net deposits actually grew by just over a half a billion pounds and indeed, ex the wobble in Sep ref the MREL which caused a £213m outflow would have been one of the strongest on record. Key line ref the Sep outflow is "...but we are returning to business as usual". Not sure where the bears go with this one now...3. The "loan to deposit" ratio improved to 105% and continues to trend towards 100%.4. Non performing loans were a nominal 0.2% – less than many other banks.5. Shareholders equity remains at £1.7bn – approx £10 per share of book value with tangible book approaching £8.6. Cost growth moderation going forward.7. Tier (1) capital ratio (a key measure of capital strength) is now 16.8% – again at the top end of its peer group and reflecting balance sheet robustness. This is another key line – "As a result, the Bank's Liquidity Coverage Ratio was higher than the 163% reported in Q2."
