Doesn't look to have been given the lashing by the covering brokers a normal profit warning may bring. Also shareholders can apply for a 40% discount on a Merlin annual pass.On that basis weve taken some.

Hopefully will have bottomed out.
Seen by many Fund Managers as a well managed company with good long term prospects
Some will be buying more at these prices

Minerve - fair enough. Lets see in two years time whether this was a buying opportunity. My bet is that Merlin at 370p is a great buying opportunity. I think this is climax selling after two years of tough trading due to terrorism. You are buying long-term secular growth at a very low multiple. My argument is that the poor recent trading creates the opportunity.

Lets see in two years!!!!!

Looking here and customer satisfaction is up in 2016 from 2012. This wouldn't occur if they were failing to invest in their theme parks and attractions. See Merlin strategy and update presentation slide 21:

Given 70% of their profits are from outside the UK I think the medium term story is still good. I'm in this for the Legoland expansion.

Minerve - fair enough. I would just be careful of rational versus adaptive expectations. The latter is when if the share price has gone down or recent news is negative the view taken on the fundamentals of a company is negative. Rational is looking at the long-term outlook.

I was reading about a lot of new rides at Alton Towers and elsewhere so I haven't seen evidence that they haven't invested. Whether theme parks remain attractive is probably another issue entirely. LEGOLAND should be the leading children's theme park. I always see huge queues for the Midway Attractions in London: Eye, Tuassauds, Sea Life, Shrek. I think people like experiences so I think they will get back on track. However, there is more competition with I think a Harry Potter attraction near London.

Legoland Windsor is only one of their attractions, you cannot base an investment case on negative experiences at a decreasing fraction of the business. Legoland Malaysia is a massive draw and the Tokyo park is an extremely astute addition, particularly in the year they host the Olympics. There is very little for families to do in Tokyo and the dull and decrepit Disneyland is long overdue a rival. Over the next few days this is an excellent buying opportunity. Lego is not going away and Peppa Pig is just taking off in China. And Asia has far fewer terrorism concerns.
