The world’s leading supplier of automotive all-wheel drive and electric driveline technology and systems, GKN Automotive, will this month deliver its one millionth eDrive system. Demand for GKN Automotive’s expanding eDrive portfolio, which encompasses a range of driveline technologies for electrified vehicles, has increased markedly over recent years. The company currently has five major eDrive mass production projects in progress in China and Europe.

Hannes Prenn, COO of GKN Automotive ePowertrain, commented: “It is always a proud moment when GKN Automotive reaches a significant production milestone, and this one is particularly significant as it underlines our leadership in the fast-growing eDrive segment. The strength and breadth of our current eDrive order book is a testament to our heritage of eDrive innovation, development and integration, as well as our ability to meet the exacting quality and production targets set by our customers.”

GKN Automotive has pioneered advanced eDrive technologies since 2002, developing experience of systems integration and production that is unmatched in the industry. The knowledge began with transmissions, then eMotor and transmission systems, through to fully integrated motor, gearbox and inverter systems. GKN Automotive’s eDrive experience is proven by its support of numerous OEMs with their evolving line-ups of electrified vehicles, including BMW, Mitsubishi, Porsche and Volvo.

Good day today for Britain. United cabinet again. Boris has already got some senior EU officials signalling there could be some movement on the Withdrawal Agreement. Optimism prevails. I'm expecting a big cut in VAT as soon as we've got the shackles off on 01 November.

I like you MEANWHILE but you are deluded about Boris, BREXIT and the new government.

Looking forward to your new wallet photo.

Hope the family is OK. Keep them safe. :)

It's been a day of great progress, with Boris Johnson bringing us the opportunity to be positive about the future and to chart our own progress.
Since the conditions aren't yet in place for full anarchy, this offers the next best thing.

This is another major blow for the BBC. Look out for the 'Point of Inflection' in their attitude to brexit, as they see the need to begin support for the position of their viewing public.

The small advance in MRO towards my 'Wallet Photo Trigger Point', is an additional positive of the day.

Yes, Sliotar, I had also spotted your error but, not being an imbecile, (in fact being quite the opposite and at the other end of the IQ scale), I decided to let it pass, since I understood your post nevertheless.

getting, on the other hand, is a well documented imbecile.

Oh dear! Rather sad that someone knows their "breath" from their "breathe"(and takes the time to point it out ) but otherwise seems not to know their "ass" from their "elbow".

With MRO's continuing recovery and an especially strong push forward today, the prospect of my '2019 Wallet Photo Portfolio' being launched draws closer.

For those on this board who have predicted, and even encouraged, my downfall, these photos will be especially difficult to view. In this group I include the 'unfortunates', the 'PLUS500 one day,/MINUS500 the next', and Purplebricks followers. These posters should brace themselves and view the portfolio, perhaps initially through a translucent muslin cloth.

For others, less psychologically challenged, the portfolio will be a useful reminder of the fruits of successful investing.

We are not yet at the trigger point for a launch but this is fast approaching.

Meanwhile, how do you feel about Gareth Bale’s £1m per week offer from a mid-table Chinese football club? More than a Melrose director eh? For being injured most of the time and occasionally kicking a little ball around? Disgusting.

Yes, jackdaw4243, I trust you were a Rory Stewart supporter.

I think the market will not be surprised by the result, so little reaction is expected.

On 21 July, GKN Fokker marks its centenary. Exactly 100 years ago, aviation pioneer Anthony Fokker registered the ‘’Nederlandsche Vliegtuigenfabriek’’ which led to the formation of the world famous Fokker business.

A Dutch industry-wide celebration event took place on 14 March in Amsterdam, to jointly recognize the centenaries of GKN Fokker, Royal NLR and KLM. In September, GKN Fokker will host an employee celebration in the Netherlands.

GKN Fokker’s outstanding people and technologies were fully integrated into GKN Aerospace in 2015. The result is a stronger GKN Aerospace with market leadership positions in aerostructures, engine systems and special technologies, increased exposure to key growth platforms, a comprehensive global manufacturing footprint of 50 sites in 15 countries and strong technological offerings.

Thanks to the pioneering spirit and the efforts of founder Anthony Fokker, many hundreds of millions of people worldwide have been brought together. His innovative heritage still characterizes today’s GKN Fokker business. Many advanced aircraft have GKN Fokker innovations on board, and over 400 Fokker aircraft are operational worldwide. By pursuing innovations in technology, GKN Fokker supports a sustainable aerospace future in a smart and economically viable manner.

Over the past 100 years, GKN Fokker has served as an ambassador and figurehead for the Netherlands in the global aerospace community. Together with its 3,300 Dutch employees across seven Dutch sites, the business continues to be an industrial champion and major contributor to the economy of the Netherlands.

John Pritchard, CEO of GKN Aerospace ASEA said: “100 years on, we have achieved the dream of our founder, with our future firmly built on the foundation of a century of innovation. The entrepreneurship of Anthony Fokker has evolved into the world-class GKN Aerospace business. We are proud to be part of the successful Netherlands aviation industry, together with KLM, NLR and many other businesses. We are perfectly positioned to shape a sustainable aerospace future together.”R03;

Good to see MRO(GKN) recognising the importance of German industrial and automotive engineering primacy to the rest of its global operations. Mr Oberparleiter clearly sees the advantages of being well positioned in that critical market for now and particularly the future as comparative advantage comes more into play.

GKN Fokker Services and Spectralux Avionics have combined forces to ensure sufficient availability of capable systems to satisfy the demand of CPDLC systems and installation. There are less than 250 days left to comply with the February 2020 mandate to install Controller Pilot Data Link Communication (CPDLC) capability on all civil aircraft flying in European airspace at FL285 and above.

The DLINK+ system was recently upgraded to Mod status 5, which makes it fully compatible with the EU requirements for CPDLC. The DLINK+, which is compatible with the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS), is available for installation on all modern aircraft types such as Boeing 737, Boeing 757 and Airbus A320. Currently, just a small percentage of aircraft flying in Europe are reported to be CPDLC capable. The remainder of the aircraft operating in Europe also need to have a compliant solution installed by 5 Feb 2020. The DLINK+ solution offered by Spectralux and GKN Fokker Services provides a cost competitive alternative to the OEM solution. Therefore demand for this system and its installation is expected to grow significantly in the next few months.

“As a leading Aerospace Service Provider, GKN Fokker Services is pleased with signing the Sole Distributor agreement on DLINK+ with Spectralux. It will ensure we can fully support the market with the CPDLC mandate, which becomes effective within eight months from now.’’ said Paul Vorstermans, General Manager of GKN Fokker Services.

The stock has now largely recovered from the misplaced knock from the BASF warning. That event illustrated an important lesson for MRO management. They must not get themselves viewed as "car guys" or "aerospace guys' and ride the curves of those industries. The market sees them as "Deal guys" and if they don't demonstrate this soon and in a significant and successful way the stock will be revalued. A large value creating sale is essential to get the price up to their LTIP trigger price of 232 which is then getting close to the 240+ entry value for GKN shareholders. They need to prove that £42 million each really wasn't enough.
