Losos

The Great Danes are young and lovely dogs. Not for me. I prefer collies or golden retrievers.

I’m sure the board are still fired up. Tomorrow will be interesting.

Good plumbers are hard to find.

GKN website still showing Granny Stevens in control. Probably in control of cupcakes.

"GKN in such a state that they haven’t changed the board on their website. Same old crew still in charge according to website"

Oh dear, the website hasn't been updated to please the simpleton shareholders. My god, the sky is falling down.

Better write a letter to the directors, it is Melrose now! ROFLMAO!

Good Gloucester win. Should have beaten Newcastle a few weeks ago but didn’t kick four conversions.

Haven’t been to see Hartpury yet. I meant to go last year against my old team, Loughborough Students, but something came up. They really are a good development team. Both Italy flankers in the last 6 Nations match were Hartpury players. Pity England didn’t snap up Polledri. I saw his dad play for Bristol!!!

The DM has still been publishing a bit. Couple of days ago about how Williamson had drawn guarantees and all that rubbish. Nothing about cannonballs or Spitfire!!!

Don't even mention football. Well done Gloucester, though you do have a choice to watch 2 top class rugby sides in your locale with Hartpury College in the Championship. They were virtually untouchable last season in Div 1. Ever go to watch them?

There hasn't been so much as a peep from the Daily Fail in the last couple of weeks, I take it their campaigning against the deal has come to an end and now they are looking for another cause to champion. Could be be Brexit and its impact on us mere mortals in the UK?, but funnily enough the Evening Standard and their editor are keeping schtum about Project Fear!

No. But it make sense to my mind. With too many tame fund managers companies can get away with murder. The thing about hedge funds is they are looking for problems in companies rather than the good things which tend to hide the bad. Bummer just looks for a story and publishes whether his facts are right or wrong.

Markets possibly expecting bad news re GKN.

How did Argyle get on this weekend? Gloucester, of course, won!!!!

You may be right Minerve, but I'm explaining in advance why they'll likely be high volume at close today in MRO and PHP. Otherwise folk may get unnecessarily excited.

I don't think I've asked you this before Typo56, you being new here, but would you like an autographed photo of my wallet?

I can't agree with that, Minerve. It matters a lot to West Brom and Sunderland F.C.s, and to the fans.
If you take that line, then everything current is irrelevant because tomorrow it's gone, unless of course, it can be used to tomorrow's advantage.

Who cares?

West Brom are going to drop out of the Premiership. Sunderland are going to drop out of the Championship.

For the birds. It means nothing. Irrelevant. Nothing that can be used to ones advantage or disadvantage.

Get back to talking about dogs and family history. Other irrelevant nonsense.

Just to add, MRO's place in the FTSE250 will be filled by PHP.

Very clear now.

Meanwhile, as I posted here last Thursday, MRO gets promoted into the FTSE100 from start of trading on Tuesday (24th April). Expect a bit of volatility tomorrow. Also they'll be a big volume uncrossing in the closing auction tomorrow (Monday) as index funds adjust their holdings - perhaps around 75m shares.

Actually, the uncrossing volume may be lower than that, perhaps 30m, because FTSE100 funds will presumably already be holding the GKN stake. Who knows!

GKN is delisting. That is it. I don't see why one would muddy such very clear water.

Who cares whether they are in the FTSE 100 or FTSE 250? Tracker funds buy and tracker funds sell. Many tracker funds don't even buy underlying stocks and are built-up on derivatives. It is unlikely you will see any gains on the pure reason of FTSE 100 entrance when it happens later.

As I say, shouldn’t be a problem, but nothing in life (or the market!) is nailed on.

Yertiz, can't new Melrose, £10B+, take the place of GKN?

MW: Thanks for that. But only if Melrose capitalisation exceeds that of the other reserve listed companies and that of the outgoing constituent(s). Therefore shouldn't be a problem for June as it stands with GKN a solid member of the FTSE 100.

Yertiz,

I just found this.
"FTSE UK Index Series Quarterly Review March 2018.
FTSE Russell operates a reserve list for the FTSE 100 Index, to be used in the event of a corporate action occurring between reviews e.g. merger, acquisition, delisting or suspension. In such cases, the reserve list constituent with the largest market capitalisation (on the date of the corporate action) will replace the outgoing constituent. With immediate effect, the following reserve list for FTSE 100 will be used:
• B&M European Value Retail
• Melrose Industries
• Spirax-Sarco Engineering
• Weir Group
• Wood Group (John)"

This could mean MRO joins when GKN become delisted.

Next FTSE 100 entry date is 15/6, Melrose still has plenty to do before the new, improved MRO will be accepted for entry so I think June is just too soon. My money is on the next entry date, 21/9.

With GKN heading off the board completely and Melrose heading for the FTSE100, does anyone know the timing of MRO being officially listed on the 100?
