jaikie

In Scotland, someone of unclean, possibly shifty, appearance. Tramps and alcoholics are commonly referred to as jaikies up here.

I beg to differ there, shorecrab.

The plonk that supermarkets push out the door for under £20 for almost 2 pints worth (that was for the benefit of grahamite2) is pretty poor and noticeably different to anything you would expect to pay £30 for.

Morning all - regular boozers, occasional imbibers, social drinkers and anti-social jaikies alike.

Good morning all.

I'd like to point out that I don't actually drink much at all. If I totted it up in a typical week avatars would be shocked at how little it amounts to.

Re. gin and tonic I'd say that the recipe for success has much more to do with the quality and freshness of the tonic, some ice, some fresh citrus and the proportion of the gin to tonic, rather than the brand of gin. The weather and time of day are also important. Some late in the day sunshine is needed.

Only wines listed, but far cheaper than I feared.

I imagine, at £40k for the wedding, you will be drinking gallons of the stuff on Friday!

No idea, saul, but I'm aware that a single barely wets the glass.

LOL

Absolutely no idea, how many are in a bottle?

Unless you are my doctor in which case 'No more than 3 or 4'.

I must confess to indulging in a bottle of Dom Perignon at the wedding.

Not normally my game, but absolutely excellent; which it should be at 160+ notes per bottle, of course.

Thanks, saul.

How many pub measures would that be?

1/3 v 2/3 and some ice.

Indeed, I should add that I dont only drink £50 a bottle stuff, I have a regular supply of "Fridge stock" for daily consumption.

Noted.

What would be the split between the gin and the tonic, saul?

I think that gin you were drinking retails at almost 50 notes a bottle.

My gin and tonic is taken from a fairly large tumbler, probably holds about a can of coke.

With regards to these spirits (which I don't touch) you were discussing yesterday afternoon:

Do you lads drink them in pint glasses (we know PramBigear does)?
