20/7/2018 01:14 | You mean to say they have so much work that they are struggling to fulfil it? A CT scan in the private sector is about £300 to the Radiologist but they fight with each other over numbers and they do a handful each session and on set sessions. Medica pay about a tenth of that overnight and about £25-£35 for routine CT but the numbers are massive. I have done my full research here and am happy at 125 pence a share. I have spoken with Tony Lees and several radiologists. Lets wait for the numbers. | ayesha4
19/7/2018 21:25 | There are still less than 5000 radiologists in the UK. Nearly 10% of that number work for Medica. Must not pay that badly eh? Go figure... | ayesha4
19/7/2018 21:11 | No, you have misunderstood or I have miscommunicated. 25% of MEDICA's radiologists (not the UKs) have gone part time in the NHS. Its a volume driven business and the highest earners at Medica earn over half a million a year. Business is booming. It will be borne out in the results. So many people trying to pick a fight .... | ayesha4
19/7/2018 15:36 | Why don't u ask your friendly neighbourhood consultant radiologist at your local hospital what they think of Medica pay rates ? How many consultants are on Medica's books ( 306 as of Dec 2017 ). So by your reckoning of 25%, there are only about 1200 consultants in UK ? Now that IS stupid. Just Google it to debunk that ;) | woracle
19/7/2018 13:02 | Thats the most stupidest statement I have heard. 25% of the Medica Consultant workforce has gone part time in NHS to do more work for Medica. Their highest earning radiologists earn over 500k pounds a year. Medica Group pay enough. | ayesha4
19/7/2018 11:26 | Their big problem is shortage of staff. They simply don't pay enough at the moment to attract enough consultants. The UK is very short of radiologists. I am told the shortage is being addressed and should be back in balance in about 5 years. | woracle
12/7/2018 20:22 | They lost 2 routine accounts, gained 3. They lost one Nighthawk account and gained 2. Some staff shortages on the ground but the work is still flowing in. | ayesha4
11/7/2018 09:15 | ayesha, I had heard that they are short of staff. May even have lost an account or two and are not always able to meet their response times. Easily solved by hiring, obviously. | stun12
10/7/2018 10:04 | Staff report record work inflows. Will be looking to add a few. | ayesha4
06/7/2018 09:13 | Hope this donkey shows some signs of life when the results are released on 12th September! | lomax99

20/6/2018 17:11 | "Did you actually buy any BNN?" Yes. Based on your research and extensive contacts. And the innate trustworthiness of the board. | kemche
20/6/2018 08:29 | Interesting podcast from Economist Babbage Team episode date 6 June on the use of AI in radiology. This was one of my risk factors before buying in.Broad conclusion is that “you will always need humans”, but the database of scans etc can be used to train AI to speed up the process. When I researched it, discovered lots of articles on AI for medical imaging. | 18bt
18/6/2018 02:03 | MGP discussed in the IC this week apparently, John Rosier private investor diary. | tudes100
16/6/2018 02:31 | KemcheDid you actually buy any BNN? Or you just came to rub salt in?Yes I was over exposed there. It aint over yet. I stil feel I will get a return there. If I do, I will buy u a pint and expect an apology in return. | ayesha4
14/6/2018 20:44 | I'm sure you are right ayesha. You usually are. | kemche
14/6/2018 20:04 | Heart scans - nothing to do with Medica. Its outside their line of work. Optellum? Dont make me laugh! They are looking at lung nodules - and they cant tell between benign and malignant tumours yet either - and they need a Radiologist at the end. Its a screening tool only. | ayesha4
14/6/2018 19:36 | "behold.AI – a deep-learning medical software company in trials with several NHS hospitals – employs four data scientists and diagnoses thousands of images every minute, giving doctors an instant diagnosis. Moreover, if the trials succeed, this can be rapidly scaled across the whole NHS with the addition of only a handful of staff." From: | kemche
14/6/2018 19:07 | Plenty of research into AI - but years away as they cannot dispense with the human element totally. Identifying the abnormality might be ok in the long run but interpretation is impossible at this stage. I have invested in 2 start ups in this area (seed EIS) and they freely admit they are years away. | ayesha4
14/6/2018 18:58 | ayesha, I gave up watching that space because that is all it turned out to be. Has Mercer repaid the loan yet? And whilst we are at it, could you ask your trusted source about the use of AI in analysing xrays and MRI scans, amongst other things, in the NHS. | kemche
14/6/2018 18:52 | KemcheBNN - watch this space. With regards to MGP, if you enquire as a client, amazing who you can speak to and what information you can get. Try it. | ayesha4 |
