Sibanye offer for Wits may increase the chances of De Bron Merriespruit execution happening in some form - MDM did the DFS on De Bron for Wits.

I was happy to take a small profit and run. Not much sign of a catalyst to get this going up and IMO prob more likely to drift down. I am increasingly wary of shares which are such a narrow market,

Reassurance too that full year results expected to be in line with market expectations.

Likewise, not surprised by the sharp drop - anyone reading the headline results without realising the history and expectation of reduced profits will likely panic. You're right about predators potentially circling again jeffian...and once the price has settled at a new level I'm thinking of topping up.

I'm not surprised by the immediate reaction. Although the results are 'as anticipated', not everyone will have realised that profits are expected to be lower this year after last year's 'exceptional' gains. Hopefully will settle down now, but might be shaky in the short term. Mind you, bearing in mind the previous interest of Sedgman and what's been happening over at KENZ, any weakness of the share price could attract predators again.

Fully agree M1das. Results were pretty much as expected and good to see that even in tough times they generate enough cash to, I believe, justify the current share price (before this morning's drop!).

I think these are excellent results bearing in mind the generally negative resources backdrop. Lower revenues & profits were flagged up and widely expected, but great that they've in effect held the interim dividend by adding a special.

If this is what MDM can do in difficult times, just imagine what they could do if the boom times return!

One thing is sure, I'd rather be invested here than in a penny resources stock with no cash and speculative potential. MDM remain profitable, cash generative with a lot of cash on the balance sheet and are committed to paying a fat dividend.

Happy to hold for the long-term and collect & reinvest the dividend along the way.

If that is the case I wonder how the order book compares now to what it was then?

Sedgman triggered a clause in the Merger Implemtation Agreement based on the level of MDM's forward order book. Whether there was more to it than that I just don't know.

Sedgman (remember them?) AGM presentation makes interesting reading. More optimistic on metals than coal and still looking to bulk up by acquisition outside Australia.

I wonder if this is a belated reaction to the recent TS and understanding that "in line with market expectations" actually means a reduction as last year was 'exceptional'? I still think it's cheap but nobody likes to see eps and divs go down. Just a guess; no idea really!

People have been selling as they see the price drifting down and it is a very thin market. A widening bid offer spread has exaggerated the fall.
