The chairman needs to realise that the ceo is a geologist and as such measures the speed of change in millions of years. Maybe the ceo is trying to fossilise the debt rather than pay it back.

Why should I hold shares and not have an opinion as to RFs ability to run this company in a competent way
His work as a CEO is to maximise the profits for the owners of this once great company
Look back in history and look at all the companies who fold as a result of debt
Gordon brown used institutions to build our hospitals in the NHS with their money and then we the now have to pay the interest on these debts that will never pay for our hospitalsb we are locked into paying massive payments into infinity
Look at the pub companies formed after the government said the Brewers were cartels
Most have folded or been taken over as their debts made them impossible to service these debts
This company will be paying these bankers massive amounts of money for decades to come any downturn in trade will cripple this once great company
MARS was once a pivotal asset in my pyramid investment portfolio
It continues to move down the ranks And in this case higher up the pyramid

City Pub Group CPC is down a little with the general market but this recently-floated pub company demonstrates the continuing strength of the sector. Worth a look now as share price has fallen back to its float price. It owns some great properties.

Presumably fresh lows coming. The rally to £1.05 a false dawn

QP, should the population of the UK spend their leisure time drinking bottles at home or drinking tea on the lawn ?

Meanwhile... SPAIN holds the European record for being home to the most bars per inhabitant, according to a recent EU study.

A dismal and moribund yester-year industry beset with enormous structural, cost, staffing and demographic problems which will only get worse as younger generations choose alternative forms of social engagement away from the outdated pub sector.

Quepassa, if owning pubs is such a bad idea, please be kind enough to explain to us all why Heineken paid good money last summer to buy 1900 pubs from the Punch estate? I'd say it's because the executives realise good pubs in the correct location, well run, can make a generous return on investment, but perhaps you disagree?

Janekane - all things considered I'd rather the share price was rising rather than falling. But given the FTSE hasn't seen these lows in over two years and MARS went ex-divi recently it's hardly surprising. You still avoid answering why you hold this share given you think it's headed for a significant fall. Why do you hold MARS?

Heading back down fast.

A quick, short-lived blip up to 105p but soon likely retesting 90p and its recent ten year lows.

Seems like a very weak December on the UK High Street this year. Appears that consumers are generally tightening their purse-strings and reducing discretionary spending.

Doesn't bode well in my view for buoyant trading.

So your quite happy with this share price lots of people are criticle of the way this company is working to pay massive interest to the bankers for the next 4 decades
I did not say the divi would not be paid if you read the post I was referring to it stated we had a 4.8p divi the last divi we had was 2.7p
Do you think that accumulating all this debt is a good idea
The general opinion in the city is this will kill this once great company in the event of a bownturn in the economy
Just look at the pubco's that have run on debt and the end result
Smoking ban and massive price increases 4 pack Tinies costing less than £2
So your happy to work for the bankers and think we will never get a downturn in trade

Janekane, I haven't had time to read most of your posts - but from the few I have read there may be the odd fact thrown in here and there, but most of your posts consist of rhetorical questions eg "will there be another rights issue", and spurious assertions eg "when this reaches 80p, RF will be clearing his desk" - and that prediction you describe as a "fact". It's very difficult to predict what will happen to share prices or the direction of markets generally, so I suppose if you make enough wild guesses, some of them might turn out to be correct. However it's a little tedious for the rest of us to have to read them.

Janekane - are you suggesting/predicting the 4.7p which is now past the ex-divi date and so priced in won't actually be paid at the end of January?

Quady I post facts you should read them and the last divi paid from this to me was 2.7p
Another fact is that when this reaches 80p RF will be clearing his desk

This was due to go sub 80p a while ago @Janekane. Had 4.7p divi since then. Still unclear why you hold when you think this is headed south.

If this goes to 80p we will c the asset strippers hovering

Sorry I thought you said I gave that figure
As I remember I've tried to give accurate share price figure prior and post 4 to 1 split
At that time
