07/9/2018 11:56 | Quite a volume boost, anticipation that its been a good summer. I picked up a few on wednesday at 89p but not enough to fix my losses - just have wait a few decades unless of course the new chairman starts to "shake things up !" | spacecake
07/9/2018 09:49 | 10 oct trading statement 21 nov results | careful
07/9/2018 08:35 | Fingers crossed that there is a good read across from the GNK numbers this morning. | cwa1
07/9/2018 08:26 | Trading update about 4 weeks away, so looking forward to the numbers this year! Last year the trading update was 10 October. | ny boy
07/9/2018 08:12 | Well if Greene King can rise 12% this morning, it won’t be long before Marstons put out some decent nos, it’s been a great summer too. I’m accumulating around 90p for a long term hold. | ny boy
07/9/2018 08:05 | Decent enough GNK results. Should provide a boost across the sector | the deacon
06/9/2018 11:47 | Interesting times for sure. And Marstons is a quality operation from what I've personally experienced Am a big fan. | fangorn2
06/9/2018 11:16 | Fangorn I think your opinion is in the world of probability I've been stating for months we are vulnerable to a hostile bid The new Chair Good to have someone on board who knows how to deal with a situation like this if it arrives And it's a Very strong possibility | janekane
06/9/2018 10:05 | Fangorn2, I think it is a very positive move. This guy will not want to maintain the status quo. History of 'shaking things up'. Found this link, although a couple of years old. Worth a read. hxxps://www.fnlondon | leas1
06/9/2018 09:55 | I said i wasn't going to buy anymore but have added today.I think it's way oversold and can see some value here. New chairman should give the company a focal point and a direction to work in. Fortunatley it's not a Carrilion... as it's a high Cash drawing business and debts are covered by assets/property etc......Although working down some of this debt would be seen as a big big plus. | baticle
06/9/2018 09:21 | Hmmm investment banker as new chairman. Can't say I believe that is a good move myself - unless he is in to sell the company to someone else. | fangorn2
06/9/2018 08:15 | M&A background.... interesting..... 'Helping Guinness when it merged with Grand Metropolitan in a £10 billion deal in 1997 - the largest M&A transaction in the UK that year - was a career highlight' More recently he worked with AB InBev on its takeover of SABMiller, alongside Lazard group chairman and chief executive Ken Jacobs. Rucker described the transaction as the type that should be on any investment banker's "bucket list of deals", "exhausting" but also "enormous fun" given the "sheer scale of complexity" involved: "If you don't enjoy that then you probably shouldn't be in the business." 06/9/2018 07:34 | News of a new chairman with such an eminent background usually means a 1 or 2% increase This being the Norm for a respected company Let's hope the market see,s this as positive However the debt problem hangs a very dark cloud over our once great company that's lost 50% of its share price over the last 20 months | janekane
06/9/2018 07:33 | News of a new chairman with such an eminent background usually means a 1 or 2% increase | janekane
05/9/2018 14:20 | Don't fight the market. It is not always clear why a share is unloved. There are lots of other shares out there that pay a good dividend. | rcturner2
05/9/2018 14:05 | Holdings RNS Deutsche Bank dumping their holding | the deacon
05/9/2018 13:28 | 1.74 was the 2015 high here, from memory. If you overlay a 3 years chart against JDW, you can see why people rate Tim so highly. When you own nearly 30% of the equity, as he does, it probably tends to concentrate the mind. Can anyone remember when the last JDW divi increase was?, Because I can't. Does it even matter, as Tim has created extraordinary equity value. | essentialinvestor
05/9/2018 13:24 | Very silly but that's the stock market for you. I picked up some to day-trade today at 89.5 and since then a fair few trades went through in the 89.75 area. This seems to have shifted the seller. Whether he's finished or is just going to come back higher up we will find out later. Certainly the pattern of selling and the look of L2 has changed. | cc2014
05/9/2018 13:02 | This is silly ! | chinese investor
05/9/2018 12:20 | Basically, if the share price is hovering around half of NAV the board would buy back the shares for cancellation assuming everthing is - tickety-boo. Even a child could work out that the sweets in the shop window are half price. | spacecake
05/9/2018 10:44 | I think the major worry here is the recent uk household debt figures add in Brexit and this is going down a lot further not to mention more increased prices because of those weather issues. | 123trev
05/9/2018 09:45 | Not suggested loans will be called in, or debt is not serviceable. When looking at equity valuation, debt metrics are a factor for consideration. Others may see it differently. | essentialinvestor |
