02/9/2018 09:10 | Gut feeling is that I hope not. Marks seem to have a half decent formula that works in these difficult times. It obviously is still difficult for them but would it be wise to presumably saddle themselves with whopping debt ? Probably too many supermarkets anyway and Lidl/Aldi still making inroads into Food Retailing. Marks seem to have a similar formula in keeping the food stores quite small but stocking most things we will ever need. Keeps rents managable too. If it ain't broke , don't fix it | ignoble
02/9/2018 08:35 | Could it be possible if Mks gate crash Sbry-Asda party by seeking a merger with Sbry?...Mks still on the border of FTSE100 and market is desperately looking for bad news to demote from FTSE100...all these turn around plans they keep on talking about only work for a limited time and by the time if it does come to fruition the CEO departs and it all goes back into a tail spin...must say the price held up well on Friday... | diku
02/9/2018 08:10 | Good to hear In my recent comments on a visit to Marks , I forgot to mention how incredibly helpful a member of staff was. Really went out of her way to assist. Like yourself, I am definitely warming to the new and improved Marks. | ignoble
02/9/2018 08:02 | Interesting to hear views from different stores around the country. For what it's worth - I would express similar positive views regarding the Swindon Orbital branch. Very helpful staff, wife, children (in their late 30s) and I have all started going and buying more there. Store is well laid out - you almost forget you are in a large industrial hanger! Free parking - the branch in town must find it very hard to compete. | folderboy

01/9/2018 14:23 | Did chat with wife about Marks. Only real comment was that she would like a little less polyester material in the manufacture. Other than that she thought things were better ....liked the fact they are using bolder colours. | ignoble
01/9/2018 14:18 | Yup Back from Marks ...amazingly my wife bought 3 things from the Ladies Clothing Section. Usual Marks Food Hall shop as wife reckons their fruit and veg is far better than anywhere else. I like investing by what I see and I was very much encouraged by today. I realise my nearest Marks is only one store but it has vastly improved. Not too busy but we did go early. Do I buy shares now for the Christmas Rally. Probably way to early for that | ignoble
01/9/2018 10:31 | That Paddington branch is always busy! | countless
01/9/2018 10:23 | Yes a definite improvement this year . Thumbs up from my wife this week, ordering a couple of underwear items in-store, there for collection the next day. Helpful and friendly staff at the Edgeware Road branch. | philanderer
01/9/2018 09:26 | M&S product development is being helped by big data etc now and should filter through to bottom line. Also I think it is a good move to close some of their outlets and boost opening food halls, which are more defensive and could be helpful in any future downturn. It seems at last that M&S are doing all the right things. | countless
01/9/2018 08:45 | Weirdly my 27 year old teacher daughter had a big shopping day there with grandma this week. came back very happy tiger | castleford tiger
01/9/2018 08:27 | Wife off to Marks this morning Couple of weeks ago , walking through Marks and saw a winter coat. I quote , I have to have that coat ! Loved the colour and cut. That is the first time in twenty odd years she has bought clothing from Marks. The Marks we use has vastly improved the internal layout .Massive improvement. I hate shopping with a passion but even I am impressed. Almost had the feel of Selfridges about it. | ignoble
01/9/2018 08:09 | I think that the work M&S are doing to help create a digital transformation to improve IT operational efficiency and customer experience will provide a positive news flow and support the share price Management says it is working hard on this front and indeed have already focused on using it to help launch new products that customers currently want. | countless
31/8/2018 19:11 | I've lost count how many times you've said that buywell3 and each time the share price goes back over £3. | freedom97
31/8/2018 16:42 | Highly speculative and Not a reason to buy MKS, but it would not surprise me if Amazon make a bid, at some point. The reason why this may not happen, would be the political furore at a British institution facing Amazon ownership. | essentialinvestor
31/8/2018 16:30 | A retest of 270p chartwise now IMO looks likely | buywell3
31/8/2018 15:41 | Hundreds go Marks & Spencer daft as food store in Oban has grand opening | philanderer
31/8/2018 13:10 | Shorts doomed to failure share price hammering up. Please do your own research. | qantas
31/8/2018 10:07 | Rightmove set for FTSE relegation on property dip Marks & Spencer (MKS) and Royal Mail (RMG) are both ‘stubbornly&rs High street stalwart M&S has been threatening to drop out of the FTSE for a while but The Share Centre’s Helal Miah said it may hold on for another three months as it remains just above the relegation zone, along with Royal Mail. The FTSE indices will be reshuffled based on next Tuesday's closing prices, with the changes coming into effect on 24 September. ‘M&S continues to face competitive pressure form rivals, at the same time, relatively weak consumer sentiment has left sales growth uninspiring,’ he said. | philanderer
31/8/2018 09:53 | May be a case for some of the strugglers to bind together. Could a tie in with BWNG have a positive outcome for example? | scobak
31/8/2018 09:32 | Hopefully moving out of one of their two large offices in paddington ( within two hundred metres of each other) soon as promised a while back. | philanderer
31/8/2018 09:11 | The arrogance of this retailer and board is staggering. They have no future alone. They must be open to doing a deal with any of the following - John Lewis - Amazon - Google (if they want to compete with Amazon in future) - ?? Life alone is noble but doomed to fail | moorsie2
30/8/2018 22:15 | Not sure what the board are waiting for or they haven't got a clue......merge merge merge with another retailer... | diku |
