Good morning ignoble & All,

How do you know customer service will go to pot, MKS might just reduce office staff and area's where too many staff. The management aren't that daft, they will make sure no problems will occur and should any problem arise they will no doubt fix it.

Shore Capital: M&S digital deal won’t accelerate turnaround

Marks & Spencer (MKS) has signed a deal with Founders Factory that will see it invest in start-ups but Shore Capital believes it will be a ‘couple of years’ before any benefit is seen.

Analyst Clive Black reiterated his ‘hold’ recommendation on the deal, which the retailer claimed would make it a ‘digital first’ operation with exposure to new technologies, business models and entrepreneurial thinking.

Black said he was ‘encouraged’ by the announcements ‘as they are tangible indications of the nature and extent of the change programme’.

‘All this said, the clear message… was that it would take a couple of years for the change programme now well underway to start to yield notable, hopefully positive, financial output,’ he said.

‘Accordingly, while we are happy to record new joint ventures… we also have the reality of a group where earnings are side-lining, the stock valuation multiples are compressed by years of disappointment with no small amount of scepticism among the investment community.’

The shares were trading flat at 309p yesterday.

MARKS & SPENCER SPREADS ENERGY TENTACLES WITH OCTOPUS TIE-UP

[ 18 Jul 2018 06:43 ]
LONDON (Alliance News) - High-street food, clothing and homewares retailer Marks & Spencer Group PLC is to reboot its energy offering as it looks to challenge Britain's dominant gas and electricity providers.

The retailer has announced a new strategic partnership with Octopus Energy to supply households under the M&S brand from September 2018.

The launch of M&S Energy comes just a week after the high-street firm split with SSE PLC, its previous partner of nine years.

Nice dividend paid into the account friday :-)

Market report..

High street stalwart Next rallied back towards a two-year high after UBS upped its price target for the blue-chip retailer as it outstrips rivals in industry data.

The Swiss bank’s analysts argued that Next should benefit from M&S store closures and looks “set to be the winner in mid-market” clothing. As UBS upped its price target to £66, the retailer climbed 58p to £61.06.
