bit short on analysis here...

store gossip is pretty much useless - what matters
is real data on the state of the competetion and
insights into consumer behaviour and economics.

I know I know - I haven't anything useful to add
either.....

demise of BHS appears to have had no effect.,

Primark -the noises from the bottom end are decidedly off
- almost entirely explained by the impacts of a lower
pound on their supply chain from China in my view..

so it ought to be better for Marks

next up the autumn (unofficial) sales season and the
issue of pricing

This is not just any sandwich...

British Airways has confirmed Marks & Spencer is to provide sandwiches and snacks from next year on the airline's short-haul routes.

Starting on January 11 2017, short-haul economy passengers from Heathrow and Gatwick will have to pay for their food, although BA said prices would be competitive and in many cases cheaper than rival offerings.

On Stansted or London City flights, the M&S food will not be introduced until summer 2017, meaning passengers will still be eligible for a snack free of charge until then.

BA said the seasonally inspired M&S on-board menu 'will feature a variety of delicious fresh sandwiches, salads, savoury nibbles and sweet treats'.

There will be a number of healthy eating, gluten-free and vegetarian options.

The airline said the M&S deal would improve quality and choice for passengers, not just in the menu on offer but also in ways to pay.

As well as using credit cards, passengers will be able to pay using their mobile phones or their Avios frequent flyer points. But cash will not be accepted.

There will be no charge for food on long-haul flights and in BA's short-haul Club Europe cabin.

M&S created one of the most imitated adverts for its food in recent years. Despite the fact the slogan 'This is not just food…this is M&S food' was ditched in 2010, the campaign is still associated with the high-street store among the public.

That opening gap up price to 316p followed by dip below flatline to 313p just don't like it....its just going up on the coat tails of FTSE strength...& not due to its own price action...I guess rather up is good then being down.. maybe Next down could be the weakness..

......business at 300p?

Down from 550p to 314p in 12months.
Is that ridiculous 42% crash not enough for you.
Do you want blood?

Maybe with every clothing one buys they give away a free bottle of Aerial!...

This is just too weak above 310p....maybe there is an unfinished business at 300p...

I suppose you have to use Rosie Huntington-Whitely and co to create a glamourous image.
But the clothes should be targeted at the conservatively dressed over 50's.
Everyone wants to look better. We never give in.

So instead of putting super models on the advert costing super money put the average person on the advert the way they are dressed!...that is the trick...I hope Steve Rowe is reading this thread...
