19/8/2021 18:51 | So they have 480 food outlets outside the UK in 150 counties. That's quite impressive however the statistics show a clear decline in recent years. I guess because of the rise of the internet. MKS have clearly addressed this change in the populous but when will it start to show in the figures ? | mitchy
19/8/2021 18:42 | The sky article says MKS has outlets in 150 countries !? Do they mean they have 150 food outlets in other countries? 150 seems like a lot. | mitchy
19/8/2021 18:01 | xxxxy: Whats good about the Amazon news is that now Amazon think the profit has moved to bricks and mortar. The store sizes they are going for are the M&S size (a bit smaller than department stores). Its good that Amazon is catching up with Netcurtains. I feel I'm still a month or so ahead of the game! 😃 | netcurtains
19/8/2021 17:11 | Amazon is plotting to open physical department stores as it steps up its assault on bricks-and-mortar rivals. The e-commerce behemoth is expected to launch branches which will sell own-label merchandise including fashion and gadgets, as well as branded goods from other suppliers. The first stores to open could be located in California and Ohio, spanning 30,000 square feet - smaller than most department stores but larger than most of its existing grocery shops, according to the Wall Street Journal.Analysts speculated that the company would eventually bring the project to the UK if it proves successful. The proposals come after a string of department chains went bust on both sides of the Atlantic owing to changing shopping habits driven in large part by Amazon itself. The move sent a shudder through US retail stocks as Amazon seeks to cement further its leading position in the industry..... 19/8/2021 13:22 | QANTAS, yes this is an interesting development by JL they realise that they need to move from retail into other areas they have too much retail space and not enough profits from their retail space. Moving into housing was a first move but financial services strange, what with MARKS and TESCO closing down their current accounts. However John Lewis customers are middle to upper class so they may be able to profit from this venture. | debsdowner

19/8/2021 12:05 | Yes, covid19 is the key. If we have no lockdown I would expect M&S to explode in a jamboree of investor glee. | netcurtains

19/8/2021 11:52 | Are investors undervaluing MARKS ?: Warning: the link below tries to encourage readers to subscribe to its website and although you may get some valuable information its available from other sources including your own analysis. There are warning flags for some metrics and possitive flags for other metrics. Most analysts think there is a 30% upside should MARKS meet market expectations as I pointed out yesterday. | debsdowner
19/8/2021 11:10 | John Lewis launches financial products as it moves more out of retail, which is a strange turn of events as most of the retailers like TESCO and MARKS have closed down their retail current account banks: Some of the comments at the foot of the article as interesting as the article itself. netcurtains, MARKS is bobbing around the £1.40 mark and it could go either way, I dont expect a major slump in share price unless the footsie was to go into a major decline below 7,000. | debsdowner
19/8/2021 10:44 | Oh well.... Time to block ears and eyes and wait for upswing (hopefully next week) | netcurtains
19/8/2021 10:35 | Footsie 100 now fallen below the crucial 7,000 level and if the US markets fall I suspect MAKS may fall below £1.40 as the US investors also take some profits in MARKS. | debsdowner
19/8/2021 09:36 | Desperate Afghans throw their BABIES into barbed wire at Kabul airport as American soldiers set off stun grenades to keep crowds back - but Taliban ARE letting Westerners out after Biden abandoned Afghanistan News | johnwise
19/8/2021 09:30 | Footsie 100 falling to the crucial 7,000 level, MARKS falling with wider market as expected. MARKS is is nearer crucial £1.40 level and if its breached there could be further falls. | debsdowner

18/8/2021 16:22 | netcurtains, fortunately Britain has had a good vaccine rollout so hopefully we wont go into another lockdown unless there is a further more transmissable mutation. They are having problems in both Australia and New Zealand now and lockdowns in place. | debsdowner
