I regret that I've sort of ruled myself out of that one.

The really sad thing is that to try and prevent forgery the French are now using these plastic based labels which are fused on to the bottles so you can't remove them. A good thing to combat fraud but less good for those of us who like to keep labels from bottles we have particularly enjoyed !!!

Bluebelle, I have taken to using my camera phone and taking a photograph of the wine and pasting in a folder on my computer - worth a try, (if you have a camera phone).

Did anyone find any stock of the ALDI wine that I as seeking?

VINA DECANA RESERVA 2006

We drank VINA DECANA RESERVA 2006 recently and really liked it.

I tracked it down to Aldi. When I visited my local store in mid Lancashire they had none on the shelves. Does anyone know if it still available?

It has a black label and golden meshing

Any of you guys tasted any Lebanese wines?

Not for a while Loverat, but they used to make some excellent wines. A couple of University friends went to work there before the worst of the troubles and used to bring some back for us from time to time. After all, it it was good enough for Nebuchadnezzar..........!!!

The great thing about the saperavi is that it weighs 1.8kg due to the style of bottle. Laugh as your enfeebled relatives fail to help themselves to another glass.

Not tried that one. The thing is though, that wine is very expensive perhaps because it is not massed produced and the country is referred to the 'cradle of wine making' giving it this mystical attraction.

I think Ch Musar is really good but that is also very expensive. I have read that in the 1980s they used to have to transport the grapes across war zones and front lines.

The best way to get a taste of the wine making is to go there. Lebanon is a beautiful country and rich in culture and history. Obviously the reputation as a former war zone means not many people see it as such. The people are lovely and I can highly recommend it as a place to visit if you are ever in the vicinity.

You have to exchange them on the Tesco clubcard page , then they send you another token for double the amount be e mail. I think you have to spend £60 for free delivery.
edit
Sorry , I note that it has changed to £50 now.

I have a few of these , it's not bad , but I can think of better ways to spend sixteen quid.

I am in to wines from the less travelled and known parts of the world

Any of you guys tasted any Lebanese wines? They really are very good and the most well known (which has been sold in the UK for dozens of years) is Chateau Musar.

Also wines from Georgia are interesting.

Both countries amongst the first ever wine growing regions thousands of years ago I think. The wines sold in the UK are not cheap but they are interesting and provide a topic of conversation when hosting dinner parties etc. Marks and Spencers stock some now.

Bionic, thanks

When you get to the payment page it says, value £54.00 with free delivery.

I will pay using vouchers, do I just enter £27.00 of vouchers and the system automatically doubles them up.

Ot is there another step to take to get double value?

Has anyone heard rumours that they are going to give treble face value this Christmas

Does anyone have any suggestions for excellent value Tesco wines to spend our vouchers on.

We currently have £110.00 face value

You can also exchange clubcard vouchers for double their face value to buy finest wine online or in store. That would make the Barbera D'asti about two quid!
These are both good as well.

I can use £30 of clubcard vouchers to make £60 to spend , plus they've given me an additional £5 off my next delivery voucher. So I can get £65 of reduced wine delivered for nothing.

bionic - I'm sure they stuck to the rules ... on offer @ £9.99 in that store for 28 consecutive days.
Not that they'd sell any.
Nor would I buy any heavily discounted wine in a supermarket!

Incidentally, the press is a good place to pick up bargain ideas: Jancis Robinson in last weekend's FT plugged M&S Vin de Pays d'Ardeche Gamay at £4.95.
It really did hit the spot, if you like Beaujolais.

£1.50 is about all it's worth. That's one of the wines that they claim are £9.99 that are always included in the £10 finest meal deal.
