16/11/2015 08:15 | Agreed Shanklin; lots of waffle ( Movement in En Primeur for Christ's sake; why not say it in English. Don't hold and won't be for the foreseeable. | cestnous
16/11/2015 08:14 | I may regret it, but I closed my short at 286p which was opened at 450p. Nothing to feel cheerful about at MJW and maybe a fund raising on the way, but I am happy to take the profit and move on. | goliard
16/11/2015 08:04 | 250p beckons | yf23_1
16/11/2015 08:02 | Reads like a very impressive growth story. Reducing the store rollout (and capex) to focus on customer recruitment/retentio | blusteradjuster
16/11/2015 07:46 | Lots of words with almost as much BS as HFD? | shanklin
16/11/2015 07:35 | It does sound like a 3 year profit warning. I also note they say that significant investment will be required. If there is not going to be any profit then where will this come from? | goliard
16/11/2015 07:21 | Majestic reports encouraging first half results and launches three year transformation plan Read: carp results for 3 years this years down 50% | dlku
13/11/2015 10:30 | Results Mon - interesting times. | cockneyrebel
04/11/2015 14:13 | Interims last year were 17 November. Not sure about this year as I can't see any published date. I think the market is expecting lower profit for various reasons and relatively poor results are almost priced in. The question will be whether they are really awful or whether there is enough good news for a bounce. My guess is that we may see awful + PR bluster to try to steady the price. If Majestic sales are down then it could really take a hammering as they are supporting everything else right now. | goliard
04/11/2015 12:49 | The results time (finals or interims) are when you see if this is all built on PR bluster.... I think the interims will be disappointing.... we shall see | trytotakeiteasy
04/11/2015 12:20 | Gucci - would it? Majestic was heading south and struggling to hold 300p before they bought Naked Wines. NW is loss making, so the profits for the group will now be lower that they were for Majestic by itself. You need to have real confidence in either NW becoming profitable or synergies from the merger delivering enhanced profit to be buying these at 300p. I think the results will be fascinating and I am keeping my short open. If they deliver poor results it could easily fall below 300p. | goliard
04/11/2015 12:15 | 300p would be a good place to buy | gucci
28/10/2015 15:28 | Following on from my comment a few months back - i can still see the supermarkets hurting Majestic more than its fans suppose in the medium term - and i can see little reason why the share price will not slip back below 300 p, until we see concrete evidence that the new strategy is working. Good luck to all. | emeraldzebra
28/10/2015 11:41 | I like Majestic but going out of the way for one bottle....unlikely. Like for like product has similar or better pricing at Waitrose. And twice recently "MyWaitrose" coupons have won the day with spend £40 in store get £8 off. | williemanjaro
28/10/2015 10:20 | I am not a member of NW so cannot comment on that. However, given that MW have had uncompetitive prices for the last several years, I don't understand why anybody would go out of their way to buy their wine at one of their secondary locations. Nothing MW have done in recent months seems to have addressed that basic issue. All IMHO. | shanklin
28/10/2015 10:09 | I use Naked Wines, they gave me a couple of free bottles on my last order as had not used them for awhile. | essentialinvestor
28/10/2015 09:27 | I think the new pricing structure and removal of the 6 bottle minimum and extra staff at Christmas are all very good for the consumer. The problem is that they may well end up reducing the margin Majestic makes, reducing their turnover and increasing their costs. I am not convinced that sales will rise now that minimum quantities have been removed and those buying fewer than 6 bottles will feel pretty ripped off in my opinion. Imagine only wanting 2 bottles and realising that people buying 6 pay up to a third less. Does this push people back to buying 6 or make them go elsewhere? Personally I will always go elsewhere if buying less than 6 bottles as I am not willing to support other customer's getting lower prices by ripping me off. If they want simpler pricing then they should have a single price. Just a gimmick IMO. If this doesn't work fairly quickly then Gormley will be facing some very difficult questions about his strategy. PS - did anyone else note the customers of the stores in Scotland automatically get the best price with this new strategy even on 1 bottle and don't have to buy 6 bottles (not allowed to promote same way in Scotland). Can help feeling like English customers are supporting lower prices for Scottish drinkers! I am short Majestic even though I actually use them sometimes. Not sure if that says more about them or me... | goliard
27/10/2015 20:31 | Darlington glasses have been a feeble freebie for years and years-Come on MJW. Avery's,Wines Direct, Sunday Times Wine Club....bolt on nothings but great for target practice! | williemanjaro
27/10/2015 20:06 | Laithwaites were offering a pair of free Dartington crystal glasses around six months ago (and quite possibly long before that - that's just when I became aware of the offer). So I don't think that that offer is a symptom of being rattled by Majestic's recent change of policy! (Though the phone call might be...) Gengulphus | gengulphus
27/10/2015 15:18 | I think they've rattled Laithwaites - they are offering two free dartington crystal glasses too - just had a call from them :-) CR | cockneyrebel
27/10/2015 13:20 | Had their new deal mailed to me today - sales will rise nicely now the pricing is getting sensible. Akk imo: Hello Richard, We’ve changed. I hope you like it. Since I started at Majestic 6 months ago, customers have been telling me very politely “Your prices are too complicated”. Fair point, so we’ve made them simpler. This Christmas you’ll always get excellent value at Majestic: You will always get our best price if you buy any six bottles - whether it’s a mixed six or all the same. That means at least 10% off, and up to 33% off for our very best offers. Our new 'mix six' pricing isn’t the only change that we have made: There's now no minimum purchase - you don't have to buy six any more, you can buy as few as you like (even just one), both in-store and click and collect. You're covered by our new Money Back Guarantee - this Christmas we will refund you in full without delay or debate, in the unlikely event that you don't like any of our wines. Apart from that it's business as usual. You will still enjoy all of our excellent services as before. In fact we’re adding extra staff to our stores this Christmas - around 50% more than last year, to make sure that you are looked after, even at our busiest times. Thanks for listening, Rowan Gormley CEO P.s. See our changes for yourself - take this email to your local store before 5th November (remember you can click and collect) and we’ll give you a free pair of Dartington Crystal wine glasses (worth £10), if you pick up any 6 bottles of wine. | cockneyrebel
22/10/2015 11:28 | Up on good volume today CR | cockneyrebel
20/10/2015 11:57 | Up today as Liberium reiterated its buy rating of Majestic. | she-ra
14/10/2015 09:52 | been very weak of late, but then so has a lot of the retail sector imo. Gonna be more about the vision than the numbers at the results, which I doubt will be that great. All imo. CR | cockneyrebel
14/10/2015 09:49 | Could be a good bounce off 300 support... | gymratt |
