Oh, you mean all those that buy once - and only once - at the launch? Those that never buy at any point inbetween and never trade either? If you believe that is the vast majority of your audience here, you are sadly mistaken.

...................

My post is rather redundant as you've either deleted your own (3096) or are now busy rewriting it.

Oh no they aren't. I was in at the start and with some trading and reinvested divis, my profit is equal to my current holding (i.e. my entire current holding is 'free').

Floated late 2019, and those who got in then are sitting on a loss, including the original investing institutions.

Always comforting investing cheaper - like now - than institutions with all their analysis, algorithms and mill bonus price guessers. I'm just moving into profit on the price, but I suppose adding on the divis it's working out OK. A long term hold, unless someone wants to buy the whole company.

I have been in these a few years due to their generous dividends and I remain fully invested here. The press nudge and wink in relation to a possible bid is all very interesting but for me I remain invested and the bid is almost an irrelevancy but if we were to be offered above £3 a share than I maybe willing to apart from my shares.

I personally think the next divi is in the bag for us regardless of a deal or not.

It's under two months away so even if a basic agreement is put together I am sure there will be a long period of DD before it's officially complete.

Or it may drive the CEO to think he needs to take action to realise value before its done to him

If there is no new bid news forthcoming over the weekend and next few days then i think we need to expect the rumour mill to wrangle on for possibly weeks.

...It might even come down to a race between us and them as to whom collects the next dividend due in the not too distant future...

It’s not just ifrs. They will have list meaningful own funds as well but will be flattered on s2 results as the bs shrinks

@cjack39, haven't the results always been a mixed bag :).... not exactly like for like but Schroders(potential suitor) results today looked quite lumpy.

I shall be keeping a close eye on MNG capital generation figure next Thursday and try not to get befuddled by all the IFRS data.

yes musclet but i would expect the results will be a mixed bag dominated by losses in the bond portfolio again like H1 so as you say we shall see next week....

Looking at the price action today from a different angle other than the bid rumour angle and from a charting perspective there is some resistance on the chart at around the 220p area.

In the absence of any concrete news then this "could" be one reason the price is where it is.

@cjack39, even if it doesn't.... if nothing has changed on the business side (big ask) the share price should be circa 237p just to match the valuation pre buyback.

I guess we will find out next week.

From Ian King's article on SKY:

"City sources said that Macquarie had yet to make an approach to M&G's board and cautioned that premature public disclosure of its interest could yet prompt it to decide against a formal offer."

important typo correction to my post above...

The market cap before the buybacks was circa ££5.6Bln and MNG """went on to buyback £500m worth of shares"""

9bln debt to take into account?

Being pedantic I note that the ADVFN figure for total shares in issue is incorrect at 2531Bln.
The actual figure stated by MNG just yesterday is 2360Bln.
Advfn not taking into account all the buybacks perhaps.

As such a £5.5bln offer would equate to 233/share, 6Bln to 254p and £6.5Bln 275p
and finally a £7bl offer would equal 297p ( naturally I prefer the 7Bln figure as it goes someway to reflect the share buy backs and the increased value per share.

The market cap before the buybacks was circa ££5.6Bln and MNG went on to buyback 500m shares.

scrawl why say market does not believe a £5bn bid ?
Market cap at this level is £5.5bn
So maybe does not believe a 6 or 7 bn bid
But anything around 5.5 is clearly possible.

However , its not enough as already said...

Very disappointed with reaction today no follow through on any level anywhere

Didn t understand and still don t understand Abdn being bought up on what I personally thought were nondescript results

The only positive was the retention of the dividend at 7.3 pence but as I previously intimated that falls a long way short of the promised return of funds just over a year ago

To my mind nothing has changed so will continue to eschew the dividend and remain in cash for time being

Will start buying @195 on this one in the absence of any news but remains a bear and on the sidelines

Was nice to see a bit of movement but dividend hopefully will assauge any rash buys

Good luck all
