22/8/2013 19:50 | Brokers will upgrade when we get full details of the new scheme for the 2nd hand market. I suspect that government will get the lenders to advance 95 percent of the mortgage. The government would stand as a mortgage indemnity guarantee provider (the lender will probably pay them a fee for this) it benefits the government in 4 ways. 1) they get a fee now, 2) as property prices increase their risk of default or the need to payout to a lender decreases, 3) more properties are pushed into higher stamp duty thresholds and finally 4) the government does not need to find any money now. | macminchus

15/8/2013 07:46 | Shares magazine has done a feature on the housing market this week. They have tipped countrywide again at 6.00. The news yesterday about one of the members of the mpc voting against future guidance being linked to unemployment has been over done by the markets. If the markets do not improve I can see more QE being introduced. Really don't think it is needed but MC is trying to make an impact. Help to buy in the 2nd hand market is the key to price rises. Even if the cost of borrowing to the consumer increases it does not matter, the issue has been the large deposits required not affordability. Most first time buyers are paying more on rent that they would buying with a 6 percent interest rate. | macminchus

12/8/2013 09:49 | From Sat's Mail:Market Report LSL Property Services, the UK's second biggest estate agency and surveying group, jumped 14.5 to a 52wk high of 470.5. It should be a major beneficiary of the revitalised housing market, which will be further buoyed by mortgage and interest levels staying at record low levels for a while yet. Investors now hope that it will undergo a major re-rating to bring it up to speed with Countrywide, the industry's biggest. | wynmck
