14/3/2014 09:43 | Colborne looks like a good purchase - I have a big stake in LOOK from 2011 / 12 but I'm keeping the lot. The bid talk seems to have evaporated recently but I expect Lookers to continue to prosper in the long term. As for supermarkets, I'm not rushing........they could be under pressure for some time IMHO. | bigbertie
13/3/2014 18:22 | Hi Peter. Having been a successful car dealer for 30 years I know what I'm talking about. I have held VTU and LOOK since late 2008. Never fancied PDG because of the debt levels. Sold out today at 145p. Swapped into SBRY and TSCO. Also a smaller stake in MRW. Unbelievable value at present levels and paying nearly 6% divi. I'll look again in five years and count my profit. Good luck to all holders in LOOK. PS: I think you may have a bit more upside yet:o) | 1fox1
12/3/2014 20:57 | >1fox1-1082- ''A monkey could sell cars at virtually 0% interest rates'' I wish I could agree- but, having been in vtu and pdg, I don't - GL pete | petersinthemarket
11/3/2014 18:49 | Market appears to like recent acquisition news...or maybe very delayed reaction to results. Colborne deal looks interesting and certainly plenty of scope to improve margins not least through reduction in overheads. Will await news on March car sales with interest, but still feel whole sector can move significantly higher on back of improving economy and continuing low interest rates. | jaf111
06/3/2014 11:17 | This is true, 1fox1. In fact my last car was sold to me by a very persuasive makak. Can't complain about the performance. | bones
06/3/2014 09:31 | Hi bones. I don't have an axe to grind at all. Lets not get carried away saying it's amazing. 5 years growth and it's down to great management. A monkey could sell cars at virtually 0% interest rates. I have held since 22.5p on that basis. As interest rate rises start looming it may be a different matter. | 1fox1
06/3/2014 00:41 | Article in FT that does not simply reproduce the official press release. Talks more about how the internet is far more important to Lookers than sales patter in the showroom: | bones
05/3/2014 19:34 | --> 1fox1: so what point do you want to make? You sound like you have an axe to grind. Do you regard Lookers as a bad investment on that basis? | bones
05/3/2014 09:43 | JAF111 "Amazing that it's the fifth year of successive profit growth" What's so amazing about it? The government have been printing money like it's going out of style. It's all been done on low interest rate cheap money. Hence why virtually all retailers have had a party time. The only thing that amazes me is how many skint people there are in this country. Hence why nearly all these retailers almost went skint in 2008. The credit cards etc were turned off so the chucky merchants couldn't borrow money | 1fox1
05/3/2014 08:34 | I would like to see 140p broken to be sure of a breakout seeing as how 136 was a top on the last interims before dribbling away ever since. :) | bones
05/3/2014 08:03 | Breaking out on those results CR | cockneyrebel
05/3/2014 07:29 | Let's hope the market takes a more positive attitude than it did in October. With renewed and improved banking facilities now in place perhaps doubts about debt levels will be assuaged. | bones
05/3/2014 07:16 | Fantastic set of results and outlook remains positive.....amazing that this is their 5th year of successive profit growth.....credit to the Lookers management team.....shares deserve to be on a premium rating to rest of sector. | jaf111
03/3/2014 20:57 | I think Vertu focus more in fleet sales and Lookers do better in used car sales So overall yes similar - both are indicating a healthy +20% in their respective strength areas | luckymouse
03/3/2014 18:21 | Good trading update from Vertu today which might be the sign of things to come here? | choppa
03/3/2014 14:36 | Some big sells arrived - but then again - big sells everywhere - mkt not happy with Ukraine I noticed some big buying in Bellway but share price down anyway - just a risk off day | luckymouse
03/3/2014 11:21 | Results on Wednesday don't forget. | bones
03/3/2014 11:06 | Nice buying here and a BUY from Panmure | luckymouse
25/2/2014 11:08 | indeed - it looks the same exact pattern as the housebuilders - fantastic run - consolidate for 6mths to catch its breath - then carry on upwards as the good numbers keep rolling in - all the evidence points to excellent results | luckymouse
24/2/2014 20:30 | Amazingly, the share price has not exceeded the level it was at just after those knockout figures in October (134p)! I should know as I bought some then expecting a gradual increase. Hopefully, the business is still firing on all cylinders. | bones
11/2/2014 07:43 | Results due 5th March... | bones
20/1/2014 07:28 | More good news: 20 January 2014 H.R. Owen Plc (the "Company") Trading Update following strong end to the year H. R Owen to exceed management expectations The Board of H.R. Owen Plc is pleased to report that the Company had an encouraging finish to the year ended 31 December 2013. The strong trading performance seen in the first half was followed by a robust second half performance and this was further complemented by a particularly good close to the year. 16/1/2014 07:39 | Good news from Cambria Autos this morning, suggests the car market is in good shape. Should feed through to Lookers one would think | molatovkid |
