Lookers has commented that the interim loss will be largely recovered in the second half. This implies around £30m of half 2 earnings, which was a trading period with a one month lockdown, as such it was slightly impaired.

Sector margins are reported as still being strong into the first half of 2021.

Prior to the expense fraud issue the average annual earnings was around 12.7p.

With the slimmed down staffing and improved margins it seems a reasonable proposition that earnings could recover towards their historic average over a two year period.

Accordingly i took a position last week.

Personally agree with you but there are still many other possible reasons why his stake has gone up other than just putting his hand in his pocket and buying another 0.7 percent.I'm 68 I think he's 85 he was my personal hero from when I first started in the trade 47 yrs ago along with Vernon Ford !I'm telling a few guys in the trade to buy a few with money they can afford to risk but I wouldn't tell anyone that doesn't know the business to pile in just yet . It could rocket any day or drop back to low 30s but I believe with or without Mr Bramhall it will see 3x this value anytime in the next two years. My son says many other place to get a better return Dad and urges me into the companies surrounding cannabis supply in case it gets legalised

With foreign holidays looking increasingly difficult for much of the summer the car dealers could be the target for consumer cash over the next few months

Knowing TB from back in the day, there is no chance he puts money into investments that he doesn’t expect to go up..

He is the “king of kings” when it comes to making money from the motor trade.

Could be many reasons his stake has increased so I wouldn't read too much into it as yet

Bramall increasing stake is certainly interesting.....he certainly has the expertise / experience so what's to stop the near 80 year old taking the company private?????

Ps wobbly Bramhall increasing stake is definitely time to close your short in my opinion. And time to go long. He's my hero in this business maybe long in the tooth now but in my view the ultimate motor dealer

Seen that, interesting to work out why he would do that?
Maybe just showing a signal of support to boost the share price or starting a potential full offer?

Even if Vertu wanted to make a bid they won't do it at this inflated share price, which is

Yes Vertu would be making better use of their money buying lookers shares than their own. I don't expect a bid would succeed but they would pocket a handsome profit along the way.

Don’t be shocked it Vertu try and buy lookers. Today the market cap of Vertu is £10m more, just doesn’t make any sense for anyone who knows what Lookers have and what Vertu own.

Today Lookers are valued at less than 50% of what their property is worth, this alone doesn’t make sense. Lookers expect to make £40m in fy 2022. This would put the company on a p/e of 3.5 and excludes freehold property of £310m

Been buying a few too although I have rather bigger chunks of mmg and vtu. Car dealers look well placed for feel good purchases as the year progresses and if holidays prove difficult to take they might do even better
