Hey, tenapen, credit where credit's due; I've been right on the money too. Recent share price actions says that some of those skeletons I've alluded too may have been unearthed.

Bring back Mr Laughingas :(

I only hold the 50k in an ISA, so fingers crossed they recover in the next 20yrs +/-.

To compare these with the likes of Zambeef just shows how bad this company is and how poor the management are ! IMO.

Credit where credit is due, kibu and hvs were right about the lonrho management.

This time last year, Moneyweek was writing at length about Lonrho's fruit trees. They do seem obsessed with the company. It is also not just one writer at Moneyweek. It has also been going on for many years - Ever since DL took over the throne.
I personally can't see a sensible person making informed decisions with Moneyweek. It spouts appalling nonsense much of the time IMHO.

I guess Moneyweek's week-end readers are having a nibble.

I wouldn't exactly say the above statement was "Bullish" on Lonrho, it just says "It's worth exploring". So maybe your inference is a little misplaced. Agreed, they've been talking about Lonrho for a long time but it's always been about "Potential" not an imminent rise in share price

I've had these an awful long time and I'm beginning to wonder if that "Potential" will EVER be realised.

I must confess to be curious about the persistent plugging of Lonrho by Moneyweek. They were ramping them years ago when approx 30p and just don't give up.
Anybody subscribing to Moneyweek is wasting their money IMHO. Any fishy links between Lonrho and Moneyweek?

Taken from today's Moneyweek story "Africa: despair no longer."

Lonrho (LSE:LONR), a conglomerate with interests including oil, logistics, and a budget airline, has struggled of late but remains worth exploring, given it's long term potential.

Perhaps that story is the reason behind today's slight tick up?

Msg 1685: got part of Lonrho's bounce but "bit below 8p" today has been slaughtered by the unravelling of Fastjet. The story is, sadly, getting worse as is the lack of knowledge of Africa.

Fastjet's fallen a third in the last 30 days with most of it in the last two - those multiple millions have clipped Lonrho's expected bounce today to well below 8p.

Fastjet's problems, forthcoming debt repayments, "trouble at mill" and fish that are too small are likely, at best, to anaesthetise the share price for a while.

1. Can you check your email, please, and reply?

2. Re yr 1701, we have discussed IAS 41, and MUFC over on iii has made some excellent points. Possible risks for Lonrho shareholders, if the assumptions are wrong, are severe.

3. Be interested to trade info about Jitteries.

Kibu, here's some analysis for you. According to Chalky's take on events lost sales in late 2012 came to £ 16.8m and one off losses £5m incl St Leni's bung. First point is that he and his mates must, or should, have known when they issued Q3 update that things were failing. Teenage scribblers have dropped their foecasts by £15m PBT for 2012. So we are to believe that those lost £16.8m sales would have made £10m profits: I don't very think so from too small but perfectly formed Costco loins and trading tractors in Maputo. There's more problems than they're letting on.
I see that house broker Jefferies is washing its hands discretely of this stock.

Recent Lonrho analysis:

Daniel Stewart - October 2012 - Lonrho target price 20p
Jeffries (Lonrho's broker and financial advisor appointed in June 2012) - October 2012 - Lonrho target 15p
Renaissance Capital - June 2012 - "sum of parts £299m" target price 18p

Such detailed research and conformity shows that there must be considerable upside to this share.

Shurely shome mishtake?

Pugugly, this is not the end, this is not even the beginning of the end but it is, perhaps, the end of the beguiling. Today's supposed 'kitchen sinking' leaves at least four very large skeletons in the Lonrho locker still to be uncovered. Meanwhile White and his mates' credibiity is shredded on the back of the wrong sort of hake fillets; I can't see the institutions swallowing much more of this flotsam which leaves Lonrho with a major funding problem coming up some time soon.
