definitely no new capital will be raised. management will have to give unions an ultimatum: fire 10000 workers or close with the loss of 30000 jobs. that is coming very soon because Sibayne share price is implying that it is a train wreck

I actually did nearly the same thing built up a big stake last time it was 30-40 p and sold £1.10 which was to early as it went on to over £2!! I think now though it's on death rows don't you? Do you think it will survive agin ?

I took part in the rights issue.
At one time I was well exposed here
I was lucky to bale out for a profit at 150p or above.

The weakness with LMI since the shooting disaster of a few years ago is that the management lack the moral authority to take on the unions (who also have a large shareholding).
They employ about 30,000 workers yet a realistic number would be less that half of that.
dozens of production outages for safety reasons they claim.
Often sounds a though the unions are working to rule.
Ben Magara talks a good game but is powerless to deliver.
He always blames the price of PMG's being too low.
This is his lame excuse.

How do they get away with wasting all that shareholder money? Who is to blame and what remedies can shareholders claim? Legal action etc?

Too much emphasis on cash flow these days, never profit.
positive cash flow only means that you get paid for your product more quickly than you pay out the money that you owe.

Nice to have cash in the till, but it is not yours.

don't ignore the fact that revenue is 1.1 billion USD and that it is still cash flow positive with net cash

Can this survive?
they must have run out of cash by now with nowhere to go.
Unable to significantly reduce their bloated workforce because of union power and political pressure.
No chance of another rights issue, after wasting the £1.1bn from the previous 3 rights issues.
The remnants of this company may be taken away from the shareholders, maybe eventually held by the unions who have a significant stake.

Always tempted by these situations hoping something will turn up but see little hope here.
This takeover would seem like 2 drunks trying to prop each other up.

with Sibayne share price looking so sick I think investors need to start valuing Lonmin as a stand alone entity

they stressed that 40m or something is tied up in finished product that will be converted to cash during the stronger second half and that this was in line with expectations

The more they wait the less likely the deal will go through...Or at a lesser price.
Cash burn could be one of the reason...
From $63m at the end of December to just $17m at the end of March
I am tempted but if the deal don't go through what going to happen hey?

I reckon the merger once completed will be transformational for profitibility. Lonmin has more than 1 billion USD in revenue and should not be teetering endlessly on the brink of failure. Market and operational synergies from the combination will boost profits hugely

anyway keeping the deal alive buys them time to continue with cost cutting programme and keeps the door open for a competitive offer
