20/1/2002 00:07 | Redmarauder Yes, the point is to move the price. But the exercise seems a bit futile for the vast majority of subscribers if it takes just 2 buys of 2000 shares,or just over £500 each,to move it nearly 40%.However if the exercise was to massage the share price either for that site's performance figures or for the Company to arrange an imminent placing then that I can understand. As for declaration of tipsters holdings I presume you mean those that are traceable to him/her? | boyinblue
19/1/2002 22:05 | gurp - I think I have to totally agree with you. I bought BFG after it was tipped last weekend and it still has to rise another 20% for me just to break even! I also will NEVER buy any more stocks with huge spreads. | dina
19/1/2002 15:49 | as an investor I can't understand punters (sic) buying shares on such large spreads ( why encourage it and give mm's excessive earnings and don't argue that they aren't being greedy ) eg on the above - buy at around 23p, share rises nearly 40% yet you can still only sell at around 25p, seems too big a risk to me, any fallback and you are stuffed I bought mmg recently when 62/63p. soon after it was marked up to 62/68p and several people bought - I certainly wouldn't hard enough to get a share that rises without needing a whacking % rise just to break even. it encourages manipulation | gurp
19/1/2002 11:23 | Perhaps you guys missed the company brokers recommendation on Wednesday to buy the stock (Teather & Greenwood) Try looking at the note by T&G analyst Stephen Thomas there seems to be a lot of upside. Post 8 doesnt make sense to me, the whole point of a tips site is that subscribers will buy the tipped share and usually the price will rise, the aim of wahtshot.com is SHORT TERM investing for PROFIT. The tipper has to disclose any interest under FSA regs. | redmarauder
19/1/2002 00:17 | Can anyone explain why LGM have rocketed recently, as there has haedly been an influx of traders. | cfor
18/1/2002 16:56 | Perhaps the owners/writers of the site will buy just a few over the next few days to further bolster the share price and make the tip look even better?.No, surely no-one could be that dishonest or devious? Answers on a postcard to Fixaprice.con | boyinblue
18/1/2002 16:40 | Fair point - I checked out the price at about 12.30 - 42% hike is crazy unless your already in!! Wonder if price will hold? | dixi
18/1/2002 16:24 | I disagree. The so called tip came out at about 11.30.Soon after somebody bought double the market size(ie 2000 shares)at the unchanged 18-23p.The MMs then increased the price of this rarely traded stock and so the next mug bought twice the market size at 30p.Then someone sold 5k which stopped the rise as MMs balanced their tiny books again. They can hardly be expected to keep selling shares they haven't got.I just don't see the point in tipping such stocks to subscribers who then can't buy in any quantity unless it is to boost the sites performance figures.A similar thing happened earlier this week with McInerney Props, again no market in them.Something is fishy imho. | boyinblue
18/1/2002 16:12 | Surely it is the market makers that are responsible - there wasn't exactly a great rush to buy early on. Site offers info on many and varied companies of which this is just one. I think it unfair that the mm's will hike the price to catch people buying on the tip rather than vice-versa. | dixi
18/1/2002 16:09 | Much as I like this Company I think it is a disgrace that a so called professional investor tip site can recommend a share with an enormous spread(18-23p this morning)and a nms of just 1000 shares. Are they that desperate at t1ps/wotshot to boost performance?.The rise today was on the back of 2 early purchases of 2000 shares at 23p,then 30p! This is the sort of unprofessional tipping the FSA needs to look at and look into any recent buying from those connected to the tip imho. | boyinblue
18/1/2002 15:34 | Try having a look at watshot.com | bertiebloggs
18/1/2002 14:39 | Yeah I'd be interested to know also............ | fongrang
18/1/2002 14:09 | RAConnell - Could you possibly tell me where the tip came from? Thanks! | dina
