London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LSE.LN) said Friday that it has appointed Donald Robert as its next chairman, as the company looks to move on from a boardroom struggle that marred previous succession plans.
Mr. Robert, current chairman of credit-data company Experian PLC (EXPN.LN), will succeed current LSE Group Chair Donald Brydon after the exchange operator's annual general meeting in May. He will be a nonexecutive director from Jan. 1.
LSE Group was embroiled in a controversy over its leadership in 2017, when activist investor TCI Fund Management Ltd. objected to the planned departure of former chief executive Xavier Rolet and sought to replace Mr. Brydon.
The fight was eventually resolved with the immediate exit of Mr. Rolet, and Mr. Brydon committing to leave in 2019. LSE Group appointed new CEO David Schwimmer in August.
Experian said in a separate announcement that Mr. Robert will step down as chairman and director either at its own AGM in July or when a successor is appointed, whichever is later.
