Nationwide not too shabby though. At least they arent closing all their branches as all the parasitical Banks seem to be.

Seconded in its entirety.
The Public sector as well is overpaid, and has little work ethic - lazy farkers expect to get paid a full days rate for only half a days actual work.

Thats a shame. Virgin is my favourite. Most user friendly and best customer service - no wonder it had to go. Bloody women - she needs a good hiding. Shes not non dom but I bet she will be clearing more units from the high street

Not small.

Norges Bank Investment Management manages the Norwegian Government Pension Fund Global. We manage assets worth more than 16,000 billion kroner, or about 1,552 billion dollar. The fund is invested in international equity and fixed-income markets and in real estate and renewable energy infrastructure.

Welcome to stagnation nation Our Government has no money — and no strategy

To grasp the scale of our national fragility, you have only to cast your eye across the Office for Budget Responsibility’s report. The basic reality, there in black and white, is as confounding as it is worrying: we are now set to continue to get poorer even as the economy gets bigger, while rising taxes will not fund more spending on public services.

Sir James Goldsmith did warn you not to give our wealth producing sector away

Nationwide makes £2.9bn takeover offer for Virgin Money
Kalyeena Makortoff

There’s a flurry of takeover action in the City this morning, as Nationwide Building Society strikes a deal to buy rival Virgin Money.

The deal values Virgin Money at nearly £3bn and would create the second-largest provider of mortgages and savings in the UK.

The two lenders have reached a preliminary agreement on the key terms of a deal, which would create a new competitor with £366bn in total assets, according to a joint statement released on Thursday morning.

The proposed £2.9bn deal offers Virgin Money shareholders 220p a share and represents a 38% premium on the lender’s share price on Wednesday.

John Redwood@johnredwoodBBC Radio 4 just interviewed the OBR. A love in. No questions to them on their past forecasts overstating the deficit and borrowing, or their past underestimates of tax revenues. Why should we believe this latest heavily revised forecast?7:32 am · 7 Mar 2024·

scruff1 ,
what you describe was NOT a HEDGE and shows you have no idea what you are talking about . Central banks raise interest rates when there is inflation as you should knoe and higher interest rates is normally bad for gold and gold is now flying because next move by the FED is expected to be to reduce rates . Other factors of course can play a part in way the gold price moves such as uncertainty when threat of a major war ! Trying to educate you :|)
