It was a totally different illness M2, with different timeframes. I'm sure things would have been very different if people dropped dead afrer 2 weeks post dipping into a dodgy burger from Kabul Kebabs.

The current tender open offers that are in place are not exactly the actions of a cash strapped bank! More the signs of an proactive entity that's fine tuning it's own treasury cost base.

I don't think anyone knows exactly what happened with internal policy after SARs. I haven't seen anything firm. We will have to wait and see what China does.

As for CJD it took the UK government almost a decade to acknowledge there was even a problem! Not a few months like China with COVID-19. I remember reading scientific studies about some new illness in the mid-to-late eighties and decided to become a vegan until the issue was sorted which wasn't until 1996.

We were very lucky that a very small percentage of the public showed symptoms because of a certain gene that they had, it could have been all of us, and even now they are not entirely sure if the rest of us incubate the protein.

IF you consider the lengths China are going to interms of investment in infrastructure both inside & and outside the country in things like the new silk route deep water ports etc to secure their ambitions to be THE leading global superpower you can only conclude their efforts are at the expense of global health....they are cutting corners with humanity & that's UNDENIABLE.

You do realise that our bonuses are nit paid by the issue of new shares dint you? Of course you don't. The bank buy the number if shares needed on the open market to pay our bonuses either in cash through the subsequent sale of those shares or we retained shares. These bonuses are for last year and I accept we are unlikely to get anything for this financial year but penalising some pretty low paid people a small bonus would be a bitter pill to swallow. The stress within customer facing staff is incredibly high at the moment and ignorant gits like you don't help

Excellent point about CJD M2. However, on a quick glance at the stats CJD only killed about 90 people globally and was dealt with wholesale with the slaughtering of pretty much our entire bovine population. Lessons should have been learnt from SARS but they've obviously not! As one contributor put it the lessons have not been learnt.

Having convinced myself that dividends may be put on hold this year have sold some LLPE's. Managed to get them away at 94.

The ords are so dire that should they fall to 25p will ride them out. Retain a reduced quantity of LLPEs.

Equities (net) now less than 1% of net worth so basically zilch.

AS I mentioned before, my wife used to take chloroquine for six weeks twice a year, for nine years. Never had a problem with it.

We were having a drink with an English doctor in India one year and she said "oh I don't bother taking malaria tablets". The next time we met her husband he said she was quite ill with malaria oops!.... Goes to show, doctors can be stupid too!

Tragedy, a friends 26 yo nephew just died. Was having cancer treatment, had a stroke, got a chest infection, put in covid ward, had covid test and negative. That is probably the only sensible procedure until test results come through very quickly, but it can be extremely harsh on some.

The top of the pick is here for us.How long will last? In my opinion three weeks. By the 3th week we will be in control. Remember, numbers who matter are not the death, sad true, but the effected ones.

Re my earlier post - Nearly 3,000 migrant doctors, nurses and paramedics plus their family members are to have their visas extended for a year. The extension, which is free of charge, will apply to about 2,800 NHS staff whose visas are due to expire before 1 October.

Evident of course - but so will the next steps.
