I recently sent another e-mail to my MP a prominent member of the Cabinet, regarding the restrictions still being imposed on bank dividends by the PRA and Governor of the BoE.

This is part of his reply:

In December 2020, the PRA stated that it intends to transition back to its standard approach to capital-setting and shareholder distributions throughout the year. It also said that it is content for appropriately prudent dividends to be accrued but not to be paid out, and that it will be providing a further update on its approach ahead of the 2021 half-year results of large UK banks. I think it is reasonable to expect that it will then set out how the accrued dividends should be paid out.

It wont be Brussels that stuffs the City it will be the Westminster. They talk big about wealth creation but in the end they are not conservative they are socialists. Tax anyone who has made a few bob and give it anyone who hasnt. Reminds me of the barmy idea in Scottish schools football. If one team is winning by more than 5 at half time - start again. Seems to me the plan would be to watch the others team run their selves ragged first half them tap one in during second half whilst watching them gasp. Another woke masterstroke to produce excellence
