In today's brief: Truss sets out her Global Vision as she vows to take on countries who cheat the rules. Meanwhile, more Brexit fearmongering is debunked as musicians won't need visas for tours post-Brexit and UK launches Global Health Insurance Card.Truss sets out Global Vision: Yesterday, Liz Truss delivered her Global Britain speech in the house of Commons. She spoke about using free trade to generate economic growth and recover from the coronavirus pandemic. She also made clear her intention to help Britain lead the world in services and digital trade as well as making the UK a key player in helping reform global trade rules and fighting against protectionism. You can read the full opening statement by the International Trade Secretary here. One area that Truss highlighted as important for a newly independent Britain is fairness and the idea that trade deals should be rooted in democracy. Truss upped the ante with Beijing, warning that Britain would not kowtow to the likes of China, which uses forced labour. Truss said that the UK will use the G7 presidency to get tough on countries that do not play by the global trade rules warning of an era that is currently "rife with pernicious practices". She said it was not right that British businesses - like ceramics manufacturers in Stoke on Trent - can be "undercut by goods subsidised by state owned enterprises." "Allies like Australia, South Korea, and India will be key to forging that group of democratic nations who can stand up for democracy, for human rights, for fair and free trade and of course, we're very committed to working with them," Truss said.Truss has also confirmed that the UK will apply to join the CPTPP this year. South Korea and Taiwan are also said to be looking to join.Brexit fearmongering debunked: British musicians can still tour Europe, is the message coming through from agents, promoters and tour managers after a speculative story in the Independent asserted that the UK had rejected an offer of visa-free tours by musicians to EU countries. They quoted an "EU source close to the Brexit negotiations" and many in the industry reacted with outrage. However, the French Government confirmed today that UK citizens travelling to Europe to work for up to 90 days would not require visas. It also confirmed that temporary work permits would not be required for "sporting, cultural or scientific events." When the Telegraph spoke to industry leaders to find out if they'd had any problems they said "there are no issues" and "with one or two exceptions, it's easy, we have no problems". "The story is just fear mongering," one promoter said.Germany warned over vaccine antics: Brussels warned member states yesterday against buying their own vaccines after Germany unilaterally ordered 50 million shots from two suppliers, as well as about 26 million doses that had been turned down by other countries. One Polish MEP accused Germany of ignoring the rules that applied to the rest of the bloc and said that "it is another example of the German policy of respecting their own interests above the interests of other EU countries". Countries are said to believe that Germany's actions are undermining the EU's approach and even threatening the scheme altogether. At this point, it is important to cast your mind back to when the UK opted out of the EU's vaccine programme and many in the British press lost their minds over the thought of us going it alone. Once again, the EU has shown itself to be far too lethargic in times of crisis. It was all too slow in agreeing a recovery fund and the government was right to assume it would again be all too slow in the procurement of vaccines. All that fuss over a ham sandwich: A Dutch TV network filmed border officials confiscating ham sandwiches off a driver arriving in the Netherlands from the UK. The officials were shown explaining import regulations imposed since the UK formalised its separation from the EU. The border official asked the driver whether several of his tin-foil wrapped sandwiches had meat in them. When the driver said they did, the border official said: "Okay, so we take them all." Surprised, the driver then asked the officials if he could keep the bread, to which one replied: "No, everything will be confiscated - welcome to Brexit, sir. I'm sorry."UK launches Global Health Insurance Card: UK residents will now be able to apply for a UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC), the government announced today. Under Britain's new agreement with the EU, UK residents' rights to emergency and medically necessary healthcare will continue when travelling in the EU. This includes medically necessary treatment for a pre-existing or chronic condition. Current European Health Insurance Cards (EHIC) are valid as long as they are in date and people can continue to use these when travelling to the EU.The Minister for Health, Edward Argar said: "Our deal with the EU ensures the right for our citizens to access necessary healthcare on their holidays and travels to countries in the EU will continue. The GHIC is a key element of the UK's future relationship with the EU and will provide certainty and security for all UK residents."Sunak prepares for difficult future: Britain faces even more economic turmoil as businesses are hammered by the new lockdown, Rishi Sunak has said, amid fresh speculation that the Bank of England could slash interest rates into unprecedented negative territory. The Chancellor's warning will fuel fears of a double-dip recession after hospitality, retail and travel industries were battered by further restrictions on normal life.Speaking to MPs on Monday, Mr Sunak said: "The economy is going to get worse before it gets better. Many people are losing their jobs, businesses are struggling, our public finances have been badly damaged and will need repair. The road ahead will be tough." The Bank of England continues to investigate the practicalities of taking rates into negative territory. For the latest news and developments throughout the day, please do follow @GlobalVision_UK on Twitter. Thanks for reading, and enjoy the rest of your day.

I don't know exactly what the five excuses for going out are as I take little notice of all this stuff. But I do know that "exercise" is totally out of place. How can that be equated with buying the food we need to live, or earning a living so we can pay for the food we need to live?

And even if exercise were so damned important - which it isn't - you can perfectly well exercise at home. Minerve is dead right on this one.

Made by the BBC for the BBC.

The sandwich story was made up by the BBC reporter with the remainer driver and ofcourse the person in charge at the time...

Hang on a second, this cannot be happening, look what our Prime Minister told us: "Boris Johnson has told Northern Ireland businesses they can put customs declarations forms “in the bin” because there will be “no barriers of any kind” to trade crossing the Irish Sea." -- Belfast Telegraph (and everywhere else) November 2019. - FT comment

Another lie, eh Boris?

LOL!
