The penny seems to be dropping. Had Mrs May used language to good effect from the outset then this unnecessarily long drama would have been concluded by now."She also suggested the EU's main offer to Boris Johnson will be to redraft the UK-EU trade plan so the controversial backstop is "overwritten"." - Merkel

Remainers can't feel too aggrieved when we leave EU at Halloween. After all, they will have had an extra 3 years 'borrowed time' within their beloved EU.

Angela Merkel says Brexit backstop could be 'overwritten' but EU red lines remain firm

James Crisp, brussels correspondent
19 JULY 2019 • 5:37PM

The Irish border backstop will be “overwritten” the moment a technological or other solution to keep it invisible and protect the EU’s single market was found, Angela Merkel said on Friday.

The German Chancellor insisted that the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement, which includes the controversial backstop, will not be renegotiated, even though it was rejected three times by MPs.

“The Withdrawal Agreement is the Withdrawal Agreement,” she said, “The moment a solution for the management of the border is found [...] that satisfies both questions then the backstop will be overwritten so to speak.”

Tory leadership hopefuls Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt have both said the deal must be renegotiated and...

Bill Hamilton 19 Jul 2019 5:37PMBoris doesn't have to do anything other than play for time. People like Grieve and Gauke and Hammond can huff and puff all they like but they can't actually stop no deal. Corbyn is no lover of the EU and the idea that he will table a vote of no confidence to try and keep the UK within the EU makes little sense. Meanwhile the noises coming out of the EU indicate increasing panic that they aren't going to get their way. I don't think any sane person actually wants to be a member of the EU. It's a glorified protection racket. Shop keepers hand over a certain amount of money so that the racketeers don't smash up their shop. That is what the EU now is.

One small step for justice.

"The founder of the youth-focused pro-Brexit campaign group BeLeave has won his appeal against a £20,000 fine imposed by the elections regulator.

Darren Grimes was punished by the Electoral Commission last year, after being accused of breaching spending rules during the 2016 EU Referendum.

Its political work took place at the headquarters of the offices of Vote Leave - the official Brexit campaign.

Mr Grimes raised cashed online to fund his court appeal against the judgement.
He maintained that he was "completely innocent" of making false declarations in relation to a £675,315 donation from Vote Leave and accused the Electoral Commission of "bias" against Leave supporters."

"and going back to WW2, the colossal inability of the French Admirals to respond to very reasonable requests and options offered by Churchill, which would have saved French ships and French lives, made it necessary to sink the French fleet.

HAS ANYTHING REALLY CHANGED?"

"This guy seriously needs de-selecting, over 54% in 'his' constituency voted Leave."

Just a few points that intelligent people would note:

1️⃣ Voted Leave at the time which was over three years' ago.
2️⃣ Every voter should be wiser as to what Leave means.
3️⃣ Leave equals No Deal for all Leave voters isn't true.
4️⃣ As an MP he needs to consider ALL constituents and the impact on the whole country.
5️⃣ MPs are not servants.

Sure, go ahead and vote him out at the next GE if you are not happy. That is democracy!

Remainers have lost and must now accept defeat

Even MPs who oppose a no-deal Brexit are running out of options

I'm against de-selection, except in exceptional circumstances, and he's just created one.

I imagine you're thinking about the extremists' takeover of the Labour Party. It's a difficult one - you can't say I'm for deselecting this bloke because I don't like him but I'm against deselecting this one because I do.

But you're right that the conduct of the fanatical remoaners has been so outlandish that all norms are out of the window.

What these remainers never understand is that a 2nd Euro debt crisis can not be mitigated by us remaining, its when not if. 2.6 t QE and they still can't hold 0% IR. The Euro is the crux of the superstate, when the second domino (brexit) (frexit) etc drops it's all but over.

Correct! Target 2 will skewer the German banking system and the Euro at the same time. We absolutely don't want to be anywhere near the #EUimplosion when it happens. The remainiacs are dangerously-deluded!
