I see the Royal Family have consumed about £70M of tax payers' funds this year. Meanwhile a young boy will die soon because he can't get a drug on the NHS - how many times have we heard that story?

Don't worry folks, Boris in on the case and he will fix the problem by reducing tax for those who earn more than £50K.

Has nobody got a moral conscience anymore or is it just me and a few others?

I wasn't aware how many people had sold their souls to the money god.

Why not hand in both Boris and Hunt special deals to the EU...see which deal they like...the one they like becomes PM...if they reject both deals then head for the no deal...end off....

Chronologically the first job for the new leader is to ensure we leave. I'm reasonably confident Boris will deliver on that.

But equal first in terms of importance is to rescue the Conservative Party from its takeover by liberal democrat types, and on this I'm much less confident in Boris. He is well to the left.

But one step at a time.

Been mulling over who to vote for, and no doubt will continue to mull it over until voting time.

Not concerned about Boris not taking part in a televised debate, they're a waste of time.

Not concerned about Boris's private life, as from what I read about the recent row, it's a non-event as far as the public is concerned.

Am concerned about Jeremy's public criticism of Boris. The public make up their minds without your help, m8. Good to see that Boris hasn't done likewise - yet.

Got a few weeks yet to make up my mind.

Boris's tax changes pilloried earlier....time to resurrect the following:

The Tax System Explained - Using a Beer Analogy

Suppose that once a week, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to £100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this...

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay £1.
The sixth would pay £3.
The seventh would pay £7.
The eighth would pay £12.
The ninth would pay £18.
And the tenth man (the richest) would pay £59.
So, that's what they decided to do.

The ten men drank in the bar every week and seemed quite happy with the arrangement until, one day, the owner caused them a little problem. "Since you are all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your weekly beer by £20." Drinks for the ten men would now cost just £80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes. So the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free but what about the other six men? The paying customers? How could they divide the £20 windfall so that everyone would get his fair share? They realized that £20 divided by six is £3.33 but if they subtracted that from everybody's share then not only would the first four men still be drinking for free but the fifth and sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer.

So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fairer to reduce each man's bill by a higher percentage. They decided to follow the principle of the tax system they had been using and he proceeded to work out the amounts he suggested that each should now pay.

And so, the fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (a100% saving).
The sixth man now paid £2 instead of £3 (a 33% saving).
The seventh man now paid £5 instead of £7 (a 28% saving).
The eighth man now paid £9 instead of £12 (a 25% saving).
The ninth man now paid £14 instead of £18 (a 22% saving).
And the tenth man now paid £49 instead of £59 (a 16% saving).
Each of the last six was better off than before with the first four continuing to drink for free.

But, once outside the bar, the men began to compare their savings. "I only got £1 out of the £20 saving," declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man, "but he got £10!"
"Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a £1 too. It's unfair that he got ten times more benefit than me!"

"That's true!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get £10 back, when I only got £2? The wealthy get all the breaks!"

"Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison, "we didn't get anything at all. This new tax system exploits the poor!" The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next week the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had their beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important - they didn't have enough money between all of them to pay for even half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and government ministers, is how our tax system works. The people who already pay the highest taxes will naturally get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy and they just might not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas, where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

For those who understand, no explanation is needed.
For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible.

Too, I thought I would put up my long-delayed post from yesterday – as it seems relevant to today’s article. As follows:

Particularly sinister is the vicious sentences handed out in Europe, and Germany particularly (up to 5 years imprisonment), for desecrating a national or EU flag.
(
This clearly reveals the authoritarian nature of the EU and many EU states.
Add this to the attempted immunity of EU officials to prosecution against fraud, attempted control of criticism of the EU in the media, the overturning of democratic decisions taken by referenda in member states, the failure of politicians in the UK to respect the democratic result, the imposition of austerity and usurping of government in Greece, the wish to subject the UK to colony-status, an expansionist foreign policy, the desire to create an EU army, the unelected nature of the EU political rulers – and what you have is the beginnings of a full-blooded dictatorship in the making.
History has a habit of repeating itself.
We need to break-up the EU before it ever gets to this.
We need to keep the UK free and independent.
We need to respect and protect democracy and free speech in this country.

WHAT IF-

A day in the Life of an ADVFN POSTER

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

if you can trust yourself when all doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;

if you can wait and not be tired by waiting and watching.
And don`t look too good,nor talk too wise:

if you can dream-and not make dreams your master;

if you can think- and not make thoughts your totally about AIM shares,

if you can meet with Rampers and Derampers
And treat those two imposters just the same;

if you can bear the truth you`ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch and wait only to see your shares haven fallen,
And average down,by knowing that experience rules:

if you can make one heap of your all your realised capital gains And risk it on a share like SHELL or BP, And lose,and start at your beginnings And never breathe a word on any BB about your loss;

if you can hang on in there ,despite what appears tobe a bear market with only the will that says just Hold.

if you can talk with follow posters and peers and keep your vitue,
Or walk with likes of HEDGERS, but do not lose A OPTIMISTIC FEEL ,

Be prepared to filter or ban those contributing zilch

if neither rampers and derampers cannot touch you.

if all can count on you,but none too much;

if you can fill your day with one good debate and some trading, Yours is the World of Shares with everything in it,

And-which is more, You`ll be an excellent ADVFN Thread Master and Poster,my son.
