Yeah, boris is an oaf, unstatesmanlike, good for a laugh, and certainly different from the average politician. But aren't the standard politicians being rejected these days, and didn't May turn millions more away from more-of-the-same duplicitous, lying, untrustworthy politicians we have had for the last few decades?

Boris wants out and he'll take us out. That's what he says, and I believe him. That's all he has to say to win the support of the electorate - whether it wins the support of the average lying tory mp is yet to be seen.

If the tories vote for another disguised remainer then the tories will be toast for generations. Maybe they'll see that and appoint him, so 50/50 boris. Surely it's 0% for Gove ffs. We at least need a member of the human race as our pm.

The question is 'who is best for the country'? You don't need to marry the person.

Then the best negotiator, unlikely to be the PM, may not be someone that you particularly like. It is the person who is most likely to obtain the best possible deal that BOTH parties can buy into. It is not a question of win/lose.

Think it will be between Boris and Raab...once the paring starts the drop outs will emerge...anybody remember when Gove gave that shouting speech during the confidence vote?...boy that was good...

Hunt is a duplicitous scoundrel.

Only last month he was lauding no deal,

Now he's saying it would be suicidal for the Tories.

Those that I still have faith in are:

Leadsom, Baker (if), Raab, Ravers Mordaunt and (McVey, but not for PM).

I do like Boris, and so do the public, but he's just too apologetic and unstatesmanlike for the top job.

The European elections were a victory for ordinary Britons - and, boy, did we enjoy shaking things up

Allison Pearson 27 MAY 2019 • 6:37PM

Forgive me if I borrow from the great Frankie Valli, but, Oh, what a night! It was pure joy to watch the coverage of the European elections. For weeks, the BBC had been doing its best to avoid saying the dreaded name aloud, but on Sunday they really didn’t have a lot of choice. Try as they might to make the results about the success of the Liberal Democrats and the Greens, one astounding fact strobed out in turquoise from the top of every single count in England and Wales. The Brexit Party had wellied the lot of them.

How uplifting to see both main parties (and their dismal leaders) humbled. How unbelievably gratifying to see millions of decent Conservative and Labour voters - dismissed as “extremists”...

With regard to Brexit there's nothing to get through Parliament. Leaving is the default legal position and it will happen unless the Government seeks an extension - which it won't do and wouldn't get anyway - or cancels Article 50, which really would be electoral suicide. Nothing to worry about.

Remainers won these elections – and they’d win a second Brexit referendum

I know, Pete, but that was a fair deal, wasn't it? Can't blame EU for that - I think.

Westminster still has the same numbers and divides as over the past few years. In the absence of a GE, which may not provide a clear result either, the nitty gritty of voting anything through parliament remains problematic. An issue to put it mildly.

The trouble with Gove is that he is too alike with Treeza, you have to discount anything he says.

Also, not a good idea to have him standing behind you.

Max - great gains in the last 3 weeks thanks. Interestingly listened to a clip last night on yesterday's subject. The conclusion was that the UK is the most opaque destination for hiding funds with its island networks etc as mentioned yesterday.

I just get fed up sometimes with the lack of any ideas from most of the posts. Luckily there are some threads full of ideas and thoughtful views.

Got mixed thoughts about Gove.

Sure there was bad feeling after he got ahead of Boris last time around, but that's life - innit?

Somehow, I can't get too excited about him, but he's not daft.

We'll see.

G2 try just once and post something about your views on the future. You live permanently in the past from what I read.
So let us presume that the UK will leave the EU. What are you doing about it? Have a view for once in your life.
