22/1/2018 19:06 | Good post from the rampers thread:- exbiz22 Jan '18 - 18:00 - 1767 of 1773 Hi Rom. There are a lot of details yet to be released but it seems certain that Goldbloc will run on a DEP and not a DLP. Think Ripple as apposed to Bitcoin. This means the platform will likely run an algorithm that will cryptographically proof and time stamp the transaction and the retailer can take payment in either gold or fiat currency with price in fiat and gold at that precise moment proofed. Shouldn’t make a blind bit of difference to the retailer as they will be getting paid through Railsbank/MasterCard and therefore you should be able to use your smartphone which could be channeled through Starling Bank who partner Railsbank and offer a mobile only banking service piggybacking off Railsbank tech. | brasso3

22/1/2018 17:50 | exbiz, 6000 and Lefrene Nice discussion on this thread and lets keep it that way. I can see lots of positives in Goldbloc and whilst I only have a modest holding will look to add if things develop fast. Leave the other thread to the outrageous rampers. | brasso3
22/1/2018 17:45 | Lionsgold are hardly jumping on the crypto bandwagon when they will be using a DEP platform and not a true DLT. There are obvious limitations to this platform and concept and obviously will not be a concensus open network for obvious reasons. There is also no necessity for TRAC to physically hold any more gold in the vaults than there are Goldbloc in issuance, they only need to hold 0.0001gramme per Goldbloc and it is fairly obvious not all Goldbloc will be released immediately. When more Goldbloc need issuing then TRAC can buy gold on the market to cover freshly issued Goldbloc as it would make no sense at all to just buy excessive amounts when the asset price fluctuates on a daily basis and then just have it sat there. | exbiz
22/1/2018 17:28 | We're all already aware of Glint and there are others too. However the technology and platforms will all have their own unique characteristics. Nobody expects there to be just one player in the market in the same way that there isn't just one bank in the market or one insurance company. Those particular markets are very crowded and with a lot of very successful businesses too. But Lionsgold have a majority interest in TRAC and so we control the vaults and derive income from it, Glint are renting there bullion vault space, we have income and they will have expenditure. We will have a 10% holding in Railsbank who will provide our global reach banking platform, hence we will be benefitting from Railsbank success, whereas I don't believe Glint own any stake in Lloyd's Bank and hence will be paying for their services with no financial benefit coming back to them. That's a huge financial advantage over our competitors as I see it. | exbiz
22/1/2018 17:26 | 60000 muppets, yes that's another one entering the space. I notice the Blue7 person says they "don't need gold to operate it", he's quite right of course, and yet on their website they make much of this thing being based on gold, implying that they are underwriting it in gold, and thus it's safer. This just one of several (or many) hitching a ride on the crypto band wagon, but trying to create the impression that they are backing it with their own gold. I'm reminded of the Golgafrinchians who decided they would base their new currency on the leaves off the trees. :¬) | lefrene
22/1/2018 17:15 | Please can we keep this on topic? As in news and discussion about facts about the company rather than purely speculation on share price? Will one be able to use the goldbloc card abroad to buy stuff in their local currency with the cost cost-effectively converted to goldbloc and deducted from account? Will it work like a debit card? Will you be able to pay using app on phone? | romeike
22/1/2018 17:07 | A few minutes search and I found this. So the technology is already out there. "Fintech group Glint has teamed up with Lloyds Banking Group in the UK and MasterCard to create an app that enables people to load credit in various currencies, which can then be used to buy a portion of a physical gold bar. Customers use the app at the checkout to select whether to pay in a currency or gold, before transacting with their MasterCard" | 60000 muppets
