It's down to the Tories adejuk, 14 years in power - quadrupled the Dow.

I do jest of course, but it makes a welcome change from the blame Labour always want to attach to the 'previous government'.

The question here is after the Reeves budget and what she will do further down the road and she will have no doubt about that why if you have a certain amount of wealth would you choose to invest at the minute! The U.S is crazy the outlook is bleak debt is at eye watering levels the wealth divide is obscene history tells us what’s to come.

It'd be interesting to see what the inflation adjusted DOW index looked like.

buffet is holding more cash than in bh history
the buffet metric indicates that us stocks are overvalued by x2
historically such numbers appear to have foreshadowed a steep fall.

Well, FWIW, the US fixtures market isn't exactly surging ahead but at least it's steady as she goes for now ..

Will the peace deal announced in the middle east be good for the stock market?

Thanks Trev

I too would class myself as an income investor But I am always willing to see and hear what others are saying and gain any useful insights.

Will now try and find the article thanks again

Just remember people like Pierre oDreary are income investors basically ostriches with their heads in the sand with limited ability and unwilling to accept the numbers. It might also be worth noting that a few very large American entities are manipulating the indexes at present which !!!

Jubber it’s Jamie Dimon

Pierre don’t be a tool all your life nothing said on these forums makes any difference to any share price you wally you understand that and that I do to. I try and highlight the possible downside in the short term so I and anybody can get the share cheaper and there is a great risk here of much more downside given the facts such as bonds interest rates hedging policy before any market sell off adding to the woes where am I wrong there the interims tell you that you clown.

Pretax, Trev plus his gang think they can talk down a 12b quid company and make money doing that. Kind of cute And if it goes down a bit, they'll think it's because of their advfn posts.Incredible but true! It'll move roughly with the market and the insurance/financial sector, and there's not much we can do about that. The near 10% divi should limit those relative moves if downwards and accelerate them if upwards.

If I was a broker I'd go for a target between 240 and 260

Does that seem fair?

If news very good then of course I will revise my target
to 320 and 340 range....

You got me all wrong pretax long term especially if the new guy pulls his strategy off I’m very keen here. However in the short term I’m certain some unscrupulous fellows will aim to sell this down and although the future business is gaining decent ground some costly mistakes have been made that won’t change this year. The American market is crazy and due a big correction but it like the debt time bomb is presently ignored and when you have the likes of JD sounding the alarm can’t be long.

Not in any way advocating to sell any share but as regards the premise of buying you can pick any one of a plethora of high yielding shares and apart from BATS not one is going anywhere.

I too will wait until I think the market has got over its blue funk but in present circumstances and in absence of any news will continue to watch and wait.

My portfolio is skewed with my recent purchases of this and the usual suspects apart from Mng in which I will continue to await for my target price to be hit.

This could well be the beginning of a mini Xmas rally but I will believe that when I see it.

Best of luck to all

Why bother Trev, you clearly don’t think much of the company; suggest you short the wheels of LGEN. Happy to take the other side of your bet.

Not looking good here at all that budget killed any chance of a decent Santa rally here and there really is little cheer and an ever growing possibility of a massive sell off in markets £2 I may start buying.

Was not having a pop at your spelling just all I seem to see are banalities trotted out but then again I am as guilty as the next one.

Has anyone any thoughts on what this latest Trump appointment might have on the markets

Bessent I don't know much about but hopefully he is a bit more level headed than his boss.

Dare we hope that this latest fillip is the start of the pre Christmas Bounce,
This old Thomas is not getting his hopes up especially ahead of thanksgiving in the States later this week.

But we need a boost sooner rather than later.

World is a very scary place at the moment.

Be safe everyone

apologies everyone - spelling has never been my strong point and I always spell breathe as breath - I must remember the final E...

breatheeeeeee

Does anyone know why so many UK shares surged? Is this the pre-christmas bounce?

Its always slightly confusing when we get a surge as normally we are waiting for a rise to sell but we never quite know when it is...

LGEN et al are still very "cheap" relative to recent prices but the mini-surge gives people a feeling of "this is it..." but is it.... Are there more pre-christmas surges to come? Ukraine war seems to be on verge of messy ending - if it does will that give another 5% boost?
