Nothing not to like here Very chunky dividend and after a pause year ( dividend remains the same as 2020) this year Expected to grow in the low to mid single digits thereafter.Decent management- long term hold for me GLA

Daily Price Range for L & G over the last fives days is 6p. Strong overhead resistance at 2.79, yet price action has stalled. Ominously very quiet. Have I missed something?

It's not - Apollo are hoovering up annuities - but I still think it's just on the too large to get an attractive bid

Is this too big for a buyer? so many times Ive seen shares popped above long term resistance then the next day a bid gets announced. Reasonably balanced buys and sells if you believe the advfn. Friday buys outnumbered sells about 3:1

De-risks longtivity - sorry typo - as in of annuity holders live longer than expected it's much less damaging to annuity provider if capital can be reinvested at higher risks

5 percent - no way - is the same magnitude at rates going to 15 when they were at 5 The 10 year treasury peaked in 2018/19 at c3 percent - and that's probably the highest we could see rates go without totally crashing the economy (which would then just see rates fall again) I can see long term rates going higher - c2.5-3 percent - but short term rates will stay at current near zero levels for a lot longer - per fed policy of targeting cumulative and not annual inflation - and per governments fixing the cost of own debt So still a lot of misery for savers - but higher long rates unlocks more pension transfers and serials longtivity

Does anyone really think we will see materially higher interest rates?Maybe, but for anyone who's already pensioner age, no chance, imo.Too many asset bubbles will go pop if we return to more normal (3-5%) rates.Sigh.

And with all that - higher inflation and perhaps ( in the future ) rising interest rates

Any thoughts on why it's so strong today along with the FTSE 100? US Senate results giving Biden free rein?

This share will be north 300p as we see improvements due to vaccine and global trade. Now Brexit phase 1 complete, I expect LGEN will be a great divi payer in next years. I have a strong core holding with average now under 200p, which I couldnt dream of reaching in 2019. Patience and investing in solid performing companies is the key for long term ROI.... GLA
