01/5/2018 10:28 | An important point to bear in mind about the referenced Equity Development research note is that it is deemed "NON-INDEPENDENT RESEARCH" and that "Research on its client companies produced and distributed by ED is normally commissioned and paid for by those companies themselves....." For avoidance of doubt, I am of course not in any way suggesting , implying or saying that such research is anything other than wholly objective. I don't know if Kromek pay ED for research notes although I would be very interested to learn. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa

01/5/2018 07:46 | The sentiment was echoed at the May Berkshire Hathaway shareholder meeting in Omaha, when a shareholder asked Buffett and Charlie Munger why EBITDA is not a good parameter to value a business in their opinion. Buffett said it's a "very misleading statistic and it can be used in pernicious ways". Munger agreed, saying he thought Buffett has understated the "horrors" of EBITDA. Munger likened it to a leasing agent trying to rent a 1,000-square-foot suite and saying it measures 2,000 square feet. He expressed concern that it was being taught in business schools. | chimers
01/5/2018 07:41 | “When CEOs or investment bankers tout pre-depreciation figures such as EBITDA as a valuation guide, watch their noses lengthen while they speak,” writes Buffett. | chimers
01/5/2018 07:40 | “The tooth fairy pays for capital expenditures?” Warren Buffett is credited with having said, “Does management think the tooth fairy pays for capital expenditures?” EBITDA is used to analyze and compare the profitability between different companies in the same industry as it eliminates financing effects and accounting decisions. Many times, a company changes the items included in their EBITDA metric calculation from one reporting period to the next. Because of this, Warren Buffett does not think that it is a true representation of the company’s performance financially. | chimers

01/5/2018 07:26 | During the period, Kromek saw growth in sales through executing on its previously-signed agreements as well as commencing delivering on new high-value contracts won during the year. As a result, the Company expects to report revenue growth for the full year and achieve EBITDA breakeven, in-line with market expectations. | chimers

01/5/2018 07:18 | Warren Buffett shares some of his thoughts on EBITDA: “It amazes me how widespread the use of EBITDA has become. People try to dress up financial statements with it.” “We won’t buy into companies where someone’s talking about EBITDA. If you look at all companies, and split them into companies that use EBITDA as a metric and those that don’t, I suspect you’ll find a lot more fraud in the former group. Look at companies like Wal-Mart, GE and Microsoft — they’ll never use EBITDA in their annual report.” | chimers |
